Soul Control Reveal Artwork For ‘Get Out Now’

Legendary hardcore/punk band H2O are heading into the studio to record a cover album featuring some of their favorite songs. The album, appropriately titled Don’t Forget Your Roots, will feature the following bands: The Ramones, Dag Nasty, Madball, Rancid, Circle Jerks, Descendents, Cro-Mags, Bad Brains, The Clash, GovernmentIssue, Verbal Assault, Gorilla Biscuits, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, 7 Seconds, Embrace, Social Distortion, Sick of It All and Warzone. Just to name a few. I’m a huge sucker for cover songs especially when done by a band I enjoy and have a lot of respect for.
Lead singer Toby Morse had this to say: “This album is extremely important to us. These are bands that inspired us to start a band and who have inspired our personal lives. Also with so many young kids getting into hardcore every day, it’s good to always keep exposing them to the ROOTS of this music and getting them into some of the originators of hardcore/punk. We have all gotten to see this bands play live when we were young so covering their songs that made us happy and inspired as kids feels amazing and we feel honored.”

Bloody-Disgusting scored an exclusive interview with Matt Good, guitarist/singer of the new hardcore supergroup Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows (D.R.U.G.S.). The band features Craig Owens (ex-Chiodos), Aaron Stern (Matchbook Romance), Nick Martin (Underminded), Matt Good (From First To Last), and Adam Russell (Story Of The Year). Matt and I discussed the upcoming album, what it’s like for these five guys to work together

Jack O’Shea, guitarist of Bayside, has sent Bloody-Disgusting his Top 10 Killing Scenes in anticipation of the upcoming Bayside album, ‘Killing Time’ (out Feb. 22nd). After the jump, you can see which scenes made the cut (pun intended). Make sure to check out Bayside’s MySpace for tour information.

A few years ago Josh Scogin used to front a band by the name of Norma Jean, you might be familiar with them. He left that band to start another one called The Chariot, by far one of the most unique and hard working bands out right now. I myself am a huge fan of The Chariot so when I was offered a chance to interview Josh I took the opportunity without hesitation. We talked about upcoming tours, his thoughts on horror movies and something special The Chariot is doing this year that BD got to hear first! Read past the break for my interview with Josh and to find out what the special news is. Enjoy!

Norma Jean have announced a full headlining US tour throughout starting at the end of February and running through March in support of their latest release, ‘Meridional’ (review here). Direct support will come from Of Legends and Impending Doom. Century Media punk/hardcore band Stick To Your Guns will join the tour a week in. Check out the tour dates after the jump.
“We will be playing a lot of songs that we haven’t played in a long time and some that have never been played at all, old and new. It will be one of the most eclectic sets we’ve ever played for sure,” said vocalist Cory Brandan. “I think of any headlining tour we’ve done to this point, this is the show to come to if you are a true Norma Jean fan. Doesn’t matter what record is your favorite, we’ll be playing something from it. We’re very excited and are working really hard to make sure it’s going to be excellent.”
But all that doesn’t matter when compared to this tour poster:
Look at that thing! Let’s run down the list: there’s a T-Rex, an AT-AT, a tank, helicopters, a race car ON FIRE, scores of bombs raining down and, lastly, a city that has just been hit by a nuke. Yup, quite possibly the most epic poster ever. READ MORE
Rejoice Glassjaw fans as a new track, ‘Gold’, is streaming right now on the bands official website. It’s a great mix of heavy guitars and melodic vocals and has a lot of production going on, so make sure to sit back and start appreciating. Also, make sure to pick up Glassjaw’s new EP ‘Our Colors Green’, which came out on Jan. 1st. The EP features five songs that have been played live since 2002.
‘Gold’ is supposedly part of an upcoming EP called ‘Colouring Book’ that features brand new music which will be given away for free at upcoming shows. There is also talks of a full length album coming out later this year, but with Glassjaw, you never can tell. READ MORE
A few weeks ago I got the awesome pleasure of interviewing Touche Amore’s singer Jeremy Bolm. Touche Amore have had a fantastic year touring with big names such as Envy, Converge and Thursday not to mention a tour in Europe as well as releasing two 7″s that are mind blowing. Jeremy and I got to talk about what Touche Amore has planned as well as some of his favorite horror movies. Enjoy!

Motionless In White (exclusive track premiere here) have confirmed one hell of a touring schedule starting in 2011. Here are some words from singer Chris Motionless:

A little over a year ago an amazing band broke up, they were called Have Heart. They filmed their final show and it’ll be released in a month on Bridge 9 Records. I recently got to catch up with the former lead singer Pat Flynn about what he’s got going on now since the break up. Enjoy!

Detroit, Michigan band I See Stars has released a video for ‘The Common Hours’ exclusively on Alternative Press (but of course you can see it below). Now, after watching the video, can my Michigan readers confirm to me that the video was shot in the Crofoot in Pontiac? I’m 99% sure it was shot there. Anyway, this video and track are off the first album, ’3-D’, but the band will be entering the studio this Monday to being their follow-up album, as of yet untitled. The band will be taking a short break from recording to do a tour with We The Kings followed by a Nov. tour with Forever The Sickest Kids and Runner Runner. You can check out the tour dates HERE.
A couple weeks ago I got to interview Japanese post-hardcore band Envy. Words can’t describe how humbling the experience was but it was definitely a special moment for me. Envy for me has been a very influential band for me and for many bands they would have to have to agree as well. This marked Envy’s third time coming to the U.S. in twenty years in support of their new album “Recitation”, and with the opening bands on this tour it should definitely be their most memorable. In my interview I found out Envy doesn’t do interviews often which made the experience even more humbling.

The Chariot have teamed up with Absolute Punk to release the video for ‘David De La Hoz’, off of their upcoming Good Fight Records album, ‘Long Live’, which comes out Nov. 23rd. The video is fun as it’s all one take, making for some interesting scripted moments. The new album was produced by Matt Goldman (Underoath, MyChildren MyBride, Four Letters Lie) and can be pre-ordered HERE.
I know that I have said this before, but Top Cow Comics “PILOT SEASON” series has been one of the most entertaining and original series in comics, bringing us such titles as “MURDERER” and “DEMONIC”. The idea of running an entire series of original one shots and then allowing the readers to vote and choose 1 of those titles to move on as a monthly mini-series was one of the most innovative ideas I’ve heard in awhile, and this week Top Cow, Kirkman (“MARVEL ZOMBIES”, “WALKING DEAD”), and Silvestri (“UNCANNY X-MEN”, “WITCHBLADE”, “THE DARKNESS”) have announced the next title in the series, “HARDCORE”. Read on for the skinny.
H2O will be celebrating their 15 year anniversary with a few shows on the east coast as well as overseas with some awesome hardcore bands. If you live in the area of these shows I’d suggest not missing out.
H2O has been one of the more important bands in hardcore music’s history having been one of the few bands to make it through the late 90′s hardcore demise. The band has paid their dues and I’m very excited that they are celebrating their career with some amazing shows. H2O doesn’t tour often so don’t miss out! BD will be updating on the shows once more tour info is announced, read on for the shows scheduled so far. READ MORE

Blabbermouth reports “AGNOSTIC FRONT has changed the face of music throughout its 25 year long career. The two records that started it all, “United Blood” and “Victim in Pain”, are legendary New York hardcore releases and some of the most sought-after pieces of vinyl for record collectors. Finally, these two releases are coming back to life via Bridge Nine Records.
On November 17, 2009, Bridge Nine will release a CD version with both albums combined, and additionally will re-release “United Blood” on 7″ and “Victim in Pain” on 12″ LP. “Victim In Pain” has been given extra special treatment, with a gatefold LP cover, complete with a dirty gold metallic ink and embossed logo and title. The gatefold opens up to the original handwritten layout of the first pressing, and the original cover — which was subsequently censored — is printed full size on the front and back of the dust sleeve. “United Blood” has a similar metallic ink and embossed logo front cover, and also has the original cover design printed in black and white on the enclosed dust jacket. Gold vinyl is the limited color, and comes first-come-first-served with each package deal. Packages include a 12″x18″ poster and a limited edition “Victim In Pain” t-shirt. Both are also available to the first few people who elect to grab the “all three” or “all six” vinyl package deals. Orders will ship prior to street date. Want it on CD?
