5 Horror Movies To Watch On Christmas!!!

Oh hey, I didn’t see you there!

I don’t have anything against Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. I enjoy spending time with my family and actually like this time of year because of it. But if you’re home for the holidays, chances are you have very little control over what’s playing on the house TV. It’s just sort of on, right? No one in particular seems to be paying attention – and if there’s a movie playing it probably takes place during the holidays but no one seems to actually be watching it.

Here’s where these 5 movies come in. Should you be able to sneak control over your family’s home entertainment setup, you can toss a few of these guys on. After all, they’re technically holiday movies. Your parents didn’t specifically say they couldn’t contain murder and mayhem.

Alaya Signs To Basick Records: Debut Album ‘Thrones’ Out Next Year

Basick Records have signed Chicago band Alaya to their roster. Their debut album Thrones will be released next year. As part of this announcement, the band has released a video for their song “Inside”, which I highly recommend you check out below. I can’t exactly put my finger on why, but I’ve been listening to this song on repeat for the past half hour and I’m not getting tired of it at all.

Vocalist/Guitarist Evan Graham Dunn comments, “It’s surreal – signing to a label that supports bands I’ve been a fan of for some time. Uneven Structure especially has been in my deck since “8″ was released. As a band, we’ve waited for our entire career for someone to give us this chance, and we’re going to do everything we can to make the most of it. We can’t wait to hit the ground running and continue to work our collective asses off knowing now that Basick Records has got our back.

One of the things I noticed was that Dunn uses a Godin LGX-SA, which on top of being a gorgeous and fantastic guitar (I’ve played several and they were all amazing) has the ability to hook up a guitar synth system. The sonic possibilities are pretty endless once you do that, so I’m really intrigued to see what sounds and textures they come up with. These guys are definitely on my “watch” list. READ MORE

Third Film from ‘Inside’ Directing Duo Will Also Star Beatrice Dalle

Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo; the directing duo that had audiences reeling with their debut hit Inside and followed it up nicely with Livid, will be teaming up for a third feature Among The Living. And they are bringing their leading lady back with them too!

Among The Living is set to go into production early next year and will star the stunningly talented Beatrice Dalle; otherwise known as La Femme; the violent, vengeful murderess from Inside. Who can forget her stunning performance in that film?

Inside certainly secured Maury and Bustillo a permanent place in the hearts and minds of horror fans, delivering an unrelentingly violent, merciless film that is truly unforgettable.
Before these guys started making movies I never expected to find myself watching a blood soaked psychopath performing an impromptu cesarean on a dimly lit staircase with a pair of dressing shears. Do I dare to imagine what they might come up with this time round?

Among The Living tells the story of 3 young boys who stumble upon an abandoned amusement park where they catch sight of a woman being dragged around in chains by a freaky looking clown. Worse still, the clown sees them and that night each boy is visited by an unwelcome intruder in their home.

Keep your eyes on Bloody Disgusting for more news on this film as it develops!

Limited Edition Vinyl ‘Martyrs’ And ‘Red Nights’ Soundtracks Available

I’m a big fan of the French extreme horror that has been coming out over the past several years. Tackling issues that are not normally brought up in American cinema, films such as High Tension, Inside, and Frontier(s) are exceedingly violent, gory films with a strong commentary on social and political issues. And one of the more intense and thought-provoking films to come out in recent years was Pascal Laugier’s Martyrs. Incredibly uncomfortable to watch with an ending that still haunts me, I always fall back on it as a recommendation for French horror.

Another great thing about the film was the soundtrack composed by Seppuku Paradigm. Now, in anticipation of Laugier’s upcoming film The Tall Man, Seventeen Records has made available in extremely limited quantities a vinyl copy of the soundtrack. Unfortunately, all pre-orders for the Martyrs soundtrack alone have been snagged but there is still an option to pre-order the Martyrs/Red Nights limited edition combo pack. This pack also includes an Eden Log vinyl single and will be signed by the band. The album will ship Sept. 15th. READ MORE
