Let's Talk The Grammy 2013 Rock Nominations, Shall We?

The official 2013 Grammy nominations list has been released and, as per usual, it takes the opportunity to laud and celebrate what the radios and mass media have been shoving down our throats for the past year (thank god we can use mp3 players and dictate what we want to listen to, right?). Now, I basically just completely ignored the vast majority of categories and immediately scanned down to find the four categories that interested me: Best Rock Performance, Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance, Best Rock Song, and Best Rock Album. And what I found was pretty…well, it was pretty confusing. READ MORE

Lamb Of God's Randy Blythe Indicted On Manslaughter Chargers: Management Issues Official Statement

According to Czech news site Lamb Of God vocalist Randy Blythe has been formally indicted in the manslaughter of 19-year old Daniel Nosek, who died after sustaining injuries in a 2010 Lamb Of God performance in Prague. The court has three months to decide upon a court date or whether they want to send the case back for more investigation. If convicted, Blythe faces five to ten years in prison.

In an interview after his release, Blythe stated, “I feel ethically responsible to go back there and face this charge. [The victim's] family right now is in a lot of pain, and they deserve some answers. To lose a child is the worst possible thing a human can go through, I think .. I want my name cleared. I have to go around the world and tour, you know. That’s what I do. I’m not going to hide here. I’m an innocent man. I’m going to go to court and see what happens.

Czech Police Finish Investigation For Lamb Of God Singer Randy Blythe's Case: Recommend Indictment

Czech police have finished their investigation into the death of 19-year old Daniel Nosek, who died after sustaining injuries at a Lamb Of God concert in Prague in 2010. LoG singer Randy Blythe was arrested earlier this year on manslaughter charges and was held in Czech jail for a month and a half. He was ultimately released on bail and made a statement in which he said he will return, if needed, for a trial.

In the final investigation report, Czech police have recommended that Blythe be indicted and return to Prague to stand trial. According to, Prague City Prosecutor’s Office Štěpánka Zenklová stated that this decision will be made “…by the end of November,” after the team has had time to review the case and the facts.

Once again, this issue may interfere with Lamb Of God touring plans as the band will be on the road in December alongside In Flames and Sylosis. READ MORE

Lamb Of God's Randy Blythe Releases First Official Statement Since Release

Last Friday, the metal community woke up to news that Lamb Of God singer Randy Blythe was released from Czech Republic prison after spending over a month in incarceration in the death of a fan in 2010. It was a welcome victory for fans and musicians alike who have been fighting to bring awareness to this case since the beginning.

Now, Blythe has released his first official statement since release where he goes over three key points. The first is his appreciation and gratitude to the fans, family, friends, community, and everyone else who showed support. The second is a short description of his time in the jail itself and how he was treated fairly. The last point is that, if necessary, he will return to Prague to stand trial.

BREAKING: Lamb Of God Singer Randy Blythe Is Coming Home

Update: Although the Lamb Of God/Dethklok/Gojira tour is still cancelled, the band WILL be performing at Knotfest. They are also looking towards a Oct. 26th start date for a full US tour. Randy will also be making a public statement in the next week.

According to a very simple post from the official Lamb Of God twitter, Randy Blythe is out of Czech Republic prison and is coming home. The Richmond Times Dispatch explains further that, “…court upheld a lower court decision that had rejected a request by prosecutors to keep Blythe in custody.” Blythe had paid somewhere around $400,000 in bail but was still being kept in prison as prosecutors argued that if he left the country he might never return.

Blythe was released from prison yesterday and left the country today. He is expected to land in New York this afternoon. However, Loudwire makes a good point, Randy is still not done with this situation. He is out on bail but he will most likely have to return to Prague for the trial at some later date.

Terror Cancels Czech Republic Show To Support Randy Blythe

Hardcore band Terror is currently touring the world in support of their latest release Keepers Of The Faith. However, going over their world tour schedule, the band has decided to cancel a planned show in Czech Republic to show their support for Lamb Of God singer Randy Blythe. The band released the following statement:

TERROR is going to cancel their show in the Czech Republic this month. We feel obligated to stand up for Randy Blythe. This situation seems to be taken too lightly. Randy comes from punk and hardcore roots, just like TERROR. He still supports underground music and has always supported TERROR– even singing on stage alongside us when we play Richmond. This hits really close to home for us having members of the band and our crew from the hometown of LAMB OF GOD.

We love our Czech fans very much and have amazing shows there, but we need to ‘stick tight’ to our friend Randy, which is why we have chosen to cancel the show. As a band that could easily be in this same position at any given show, we don’t think we can play there and act like this is OK – it isn’t.

This is bigger than a hashtag or a clever t-shirt– we as a community need to take action and speak up. Free Randy Blythe.

Read on for my reaction. READ MORE

Lamb Of God/Dethklok/Gojira Tour Officially Cancelled

I feel like I kinda jinxed things in yesterday’s article about Randy Blythe where I stated that there was still no word on whether or not the Lamb Of God/Dethklok/Gojira tour was pushing forward. I was still harboring a completely unrealistic hope that the tour would continue, even if it had to reschedule the first few dates. Alas, that is not going to happen as word has broken that the tour is now officially cancelled.

Per LoG’s PR: “The band regrets the decision but the uncertainty of Randy’s release makes it impossible to carry on with the tour. Upon Randy’s release, it is the band’s intention to rebook a tour in the fall and at this time the band fully intends to participate in the Mayhem Cruise in December.

They also add, “Lamb Of God wishes to thank Dethklok, Adult Swim and Gojira for their support and patience as well as all of the promoters who had dates on the tour. Last but certainly not least, the band thanks all of the fans who bought tickets for the tour and who have been supportive of Randy and the band over the last month that Randy has been held in Prague. Without the fans, there is no LAMB OF GOD.READ MORE

Lamb Of God's Randy Blythe Denied Bail Once Again

More bad news for Randy Blythe, Lamb of God, and fans around the world as the singer has once again been denied release after posting $400,000 in bail. Blythe has been sitting in jail for over a month in Prague as he faces manslaughter charges stemming from the death of a concert goer in 2010.

In the United States, when someone posts bail, they are free to leave jail. Apparently this is not the case in Czech Republic. Rather, a prosecutor can detain the defendant while they issue a formal protest. In this situation, the prosecution issued the challenge a day after bail was posted. The lawyer will have to meet with the judge on Friday (July 27th) to explain their reasons. The judge will then have five days to deliberate on the reasoning and another five days to post a decision. So we’re looking at a possible Aug. 6th date at the earliest (this is if they don’t take into account “business days”). READ MORE

Lamb Of God's Randy Blythe Issues First Jailhouse Interview

Ever since his arrest on June 28th in Prague, there hasn’t been any direct word from Lamb of God singer Randy Blythe. That is until now. Czech news website has managed to conduct an interview with Blythe which Loudwire has translated. Here are some excerpts: What is your recollection of the incident that happened at club Abaton in Prague during Lamb of God’s concert in May 2010?

Randy: “I don’t know anything about any sort of incident [that allegedly took place during the concert]. I remember very few details about the show, mainly because I have played a lot of concerts [before and after the gig in question]. I just remember that the stage at the club was very small, and we barely managed to fit our equipment on there. Also, apparently there was a security guard there because many people climbed onto the stage — including one small boy, in particular, but I could be mixing up details with what happened at other clubs. Since I don’t wear my glasses while performing, I see little more than blurry outlines. In any case, I did not attack anyone. The only way I could have come into contact with anyone from the audience was if I was protecting myself from [people bumping into me when climbing on the stage].” How are you spending time in custody and with your fellow inmates?

Randy: “I read, I write letters to friends, family, and I also keep a diary. I get along very well with [my Mongol cellmate], and I am even trying to learn a bit of Mongolian. I’m starting to write a book about my time in the Pankrác prison and come up with lyrical ideas.”

Update On Lamb Of God's Randy Blythe

It’s been just over a week since we reported that Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe was arrested by Czech police for manslaughter. The incident in question, which occurred in 2012, was regarding the death of a fan, 19-year old Daniel Nosek, who in 2010 fell off the stage at a LoG show, hit his head, slipped into a coma, and died after several days.

According to both management and LoG publicity, neither of them were aware of ANY charges or of the circumstance at all. They were completely blindsided by this situation. Also, even though Blythe paid the legal system their equivalent of $200,000 (which he states is his annual income) for bail, he has still not been released. As a matter of fact, he will not be released until next week, according to officials. Now, while I can join the endless throngs of people who are screaming at the unjustness of this, I do know that it is only relatively recently that the Czech Republic gained independence and democracy. Therefore, there are probably still snags and hiccups in the process.

Throughout this all, Blythe has shown nothing but patience and positivity. He has apparently not once complained about his situation nor has he made any demands. Rather, he is apparently spending his time in jail learning Mongolian. He has also stated that, upon his release, he would like to meet the family of Daniel Nosek.

While there is no determination of guilt or innocence here, it should be remembered that a family lost a son. It is tragic that Nosek passed away and I offer my deepest condolences to his family.

With that being said, I have not yet seen enough evidence to place the guilt on Blythe. Rather, it seems that as more and more evidence is released, the more it looks like there is something else going on. Slow-motion footage of the event in question has raised many questions from both fans and legal advisors.

Whatever the situation, I hope that a amicable and peaceful resolution can be found. READ MORE
