Screen Media Films announced that it has acquired all North American rights to Joko Anwar’s horror/thriller Modus Anomali. The film had premiered at the South by Southwest Festival in 2012 as one of its Midnight selections.
Modus Anomali is an Indonesian production about “A man on vacation in the woods with his family when an unexpected guest suddenly arrives. After experiencing a time lapse, the man wakes up, buried in a grave and separated from his family. He then follows pre-set alarm clocks and other clues in a race against time to figure out the truth and save his family.”
Screen Media plans to release the film on DVD, Video on Demand and other ancillary markets in August, and will be included in the company’s new horror label, Screen Media Darkside, which launched in Fall 2012. READ MORE
After premiering at the SXSW Film Festival last month, the Indonesian horror flick Modus Anomali (from The Forbidden Door filmmaker Joko Anwar) has now been picked up by Toronto based genre specialist Raven Banner Entertainment for international distribution.

I was able to catch the film (yet to review it) and it was pretty fantastic, featuring a plot twist that’ll blow your friggin’ mind all over the wall. Sorry to tease, since there’s still no U.S. distribution, but at least you can enjoy the above new still, alongside the following poster and first clip that sets the fiery tone of the flick.
