Movies like The Goonies and Monster Squad will always have a special place in my heart. They show children rising up and facing their fears head on, determined to make it through their journey and emerge, grown and hardened, out the other side. That’s why I really resonated with the new music video, Boogie Man, from Grieves. It shows a boy arming himself with bubble wrap armor, a pot helmet, and a toy boy and arrow. He then proceeds to face some admittedly creepy nightmarish creatures. The music actually really works super well for this video and I’m not normally a guy who is into much hip hop.
Back before Brandon Seifert and Lukas Ketner’s “WITCH DOCTOR” began we made the prediction that the series would quickly become a classic among genre fans, and if the sell-out numbers for the series’ first story-arc are any indication of just how much potential the series has, then we feel pretty damned secure in that assumption. So it comes as no surprise that Skybound has announced an all new one-shot featuring the “unique” cast and crew entitled, “RESUSCITATION”. Below you can get your first look at the cover art and all the details…

“Offering a great jumping on point for new readers, Witch Doctor: The Resuscitation will ask important questions of its readers. For instance, if you wake up in a bathtub of ice with a surgical incision on your side, but the hospital says you’ve still got two kidneys, where do you go for a second opinion? To the expert, Dr. Vincent Morrow, Witch Doctor, of course!”

At the Best Buy Theater in New York City last night, the second annual Metal Masters Clinic took place. Featuring members of Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer and even ex-Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy, the free event was a blast for fans. However, the big surprise came towards the end of the evening when Phil Anselmo (Pantera, Down) took the stage and everyone rocked out a couple of classic Pantera tunes. After the jump, you can see everyone busting out A New Level and Fucking Hostile. To put it simply, these videos kick insane amounts of ass. READ MORE
Fans of Guillermo Del Toro are spoiled. Don’t take that the wrong way, but the director/writer/producer extraordinaire is one of the busiest and most talented names in the horror/sci-fi industry right now, and things are about to get a little bit more hectic as the first images from the upcoming comic book adaptation to his hit trilogy of novels, “THE STRAIN”, hit the net. The series will debut this December (Merry Christmas kids), and if you scroll on down you can check out the initial cover art for the book that will be retailing for just $1 (I rest my case)!…

“When a Boeing 777 lands at JFK International Airport and goes dark on the runway, the Center for Disease Control, fearing a terrorist attack, calls in Dr. Ephraim Goodweather and his team of expert biological-threat first responders. Only an elderly pawnbroker from Spanish Harlem suspects a darker purpose behind the event–an ancient threat intent on covering mankind in darkness.”

So, 99.9999% of the time I post mash-ups, they’re some awesome metal rendition of a pop song. Instead, what we have here today (courtesy of BurnTheBlueSky), is a beautiful mixture of Linkin Park‘s Waiting For The End and Katy Perry‘s ET. Featuring two guys on a piano and three back-up singers (their appearance is rather amusing), the mix of the two songs is surprisingly effective and really something special.
I’m always intrigued when some random person, sitting in their home, decides to do a cover song. Normally, this usually ends with bleeding ears and/or much laughter AT and not WITH. Sometimes, however, a true gem appears. Such is the case with Josie Charlwood‘s (YouTube) cover of Gorillaz Feel Good Inc. Apart from being a great cover, she decides to replicate nearly every instrument in the song…in one take. Using a Boss RC-30 looper (I’ve been wanting one for years now) and a bedroom FULL of studio equipment (where did she get the money for all this???), Josie looped and recorded part after part to get as close to the full experience as you can get. What’s even more impressive is the skill she shows in manipulating multiple pieces of gear at a moment’s notice.
I could’ve sworn I did an ‘OMFG Of The Day’ to this last year. But after doing some digging, it looks like I was an idiot when this was released and passed it over. Well not again! This gem of a video popped up on Today’s Big Thing and I plan on sharing it’s joy with you all!
The Eighth ‘season’ of Joss Whedon’s “BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER” was for all intents and purposes, BETTER than the final season of the cult classic TV series, which saw its run on The CW come to an end after 7 years with the network. Some would call the series “Another Generation’s Twilight”, but I have Colt .45 for that, and a proper distaste for its fans. Figuratively, of course. But I digress. The point is that the “AVENGERS” director himself will be getting back to his roots with Dark Horse Comics, and inside we have your first look at the title’s first issue. Read on for the skinny…
It’s been a while since we’ve gotten a good mashup for you. Well, I found this one yesterday but I saved it for today so that you could enter the weekend head banging. After the jump you’ll find YouTube user TheNoctural666‘s amazing djent mashup of the infamous Tay Zonday song Chocolate Rain. To say that this song pumped me up is not enough. I heard it and I wanted to jump into a mosh pit. Yes, I would’ve gotten my ass handed to me but it’s the thought that counts, right?
Usually in a horror film, when a body awakens in a morgue, there is some unlucky soul who just happens to be there as a tasty snack. But what happens when zombies wake up and only have each other for company? Well, the answer, my dear readers, awaits you after the jump!
This just in: “AMERICAN VAMPIRE” is the single best horror monthly running as of August 2011. If you so much as question that fact then you are sorely mistaken. To prove our point we will be putting our money where our mouths are and treat you all to a 2 page preview inside. Read on for the skinny…
We ended last week with an OMFG Of The Day that saw a creeper pedophile get his comeuppance at the hands of a little girl, all to the tune of Skrillex‘s First Of The Year. Well, today brings another dubstep OMFG article. This time, a trio of armed gunmen take on your every day generic bad guys using the power of dubstep as their ammo. Sound ridiculous? Well, it should because it is. Watch the video after the jump and enjoy the face melter at the end! READ MORE
Things are looking desperate in the Marvel Uni right now. No amount of tricks or plans have paid off for our heroes, and it looks as if The Fear will engulf the world entirely. However, before The Serpent can start dancing in the streets of New York, Marvel Comics has a new ace up their sleeves in the form of “The Forgiven”. Not a word has been spoken about the all new “Hulk” busting group as of yet, but below you can check out the first specs for the team’s first ish which debuts in September…

I’ve made it pretty clear by now that I’m a huge fan of Skrillex, right? Okay, just making sure. Well, one of my favorite tracks on the More Monsters And Sprites EP is the song First of the Year (Equinox). The first time I heard it, the “Call 9-1-1 now!” scream made me jump a few inches. After that, I was treated to the sound of what can only be described as Transformers hardcore banging it out. So awesome. I mean, c’mon, who doesn’t get excited at the thought of Optimus Prime and Elita One engaging in copious amounts of oil-leaking fornication? Anybody? Any takers?
One of the trademarks of Tim Seeley’s ubber popular “HACK/SLASH” has always been the fact that the monthly will often implement the help of some of horror’s favorite icons. Recently that has been missing from the title, but come November the Image crew will be more than making up for it as they team-up with writer/director Adam Green for “HATCHET/SLASH”, the series’ all new 2011 annual, and the first from the publisher. Below you can check out all the killer deets and get your first look art the cover art…

“The biggest stars in comic book horror meet the biggest star in independent horror films as Cassie and Vlad meet Hatchet’s Victor Crowley! In the Louisiana Bayou, the murderous ghost of Victor Crowley is maiming tourists in creatively horrible ways. But in his blind murderous rampage, he may have created something worse than himself! Now, Cassie and Vlad are back in New Orleans, and it won’t be long before baseball bat meets hatchet and deformed mutant meets deformed mutant!”
“HACK/SLASH ANNUAL” Drops November 2nd From Image Comics! (MSRP – $4.99)
Well, I could say that stranger things have happened, but for some reason, the sight of Tool‘s Adam Jones playing the Star Spangled Banner at the WWE SummerSlam just boggles my mind completely. I mean, it’s like putting two magnets head to head: no matter what you do, they just won’t stick together! Even more so, they push each other apart! That’s what this seems like to be! However, I guess I’m wrong.
Okay, so this isn’t metal but it’s damn catchy and super awesome. Cee Lo Green, whose video for F*ck You went viral (and is awesome), has released a new video entitled Cry Baby. The best part? Jaleel White, best known as Urkel on Family Matters, is the main character and busts out some awesome dance moves and is basically the type of man I wish I would’ve grown up to be.
I can appreciate a funny cat video as much as the next person, but sometimes I get sick of seeing those feline bastards. Honestly, I’m more of a lizard person, but I’ll take a dog being badass any day of the week just to combat the cat pandemic that is sweeping the Internet.
It’s been a while since there has been a good OMFG Of The Day so it makes me even more happy that this one is so badass. After the jump, you can watch a video where Wilford Brimley (The Thing, Death Valley, Cocoon) talks about his love of cocaine, death metal, and Unreal. Yes, the video game. Can you imagine him screaming out, “My name is Wilford Brimley and I have ultra-kill!” That would easily be one of the great moments of life as we know it. Hands down.
Recently things have been quite volatile within the pages of “AMERICAN VAMPIRE”, as the gang have found themselves captive to things more sinister than just vampires. Even Skinner Sweet is in the thick of it, and it looks like the series’ anti-hero might not come out of it unscathed. Below you can take a look at the teaser image that was released at San Diego ComiCon, and discuss…
With so much hype over Mark Kidwell and Co.’s “’68″ monthly it was almost a certainty that the title would deliver a much needed storyline ( See: “Backbone”) to a zombie title not named “THE WALKING DEAD”. By all means it didn’t have to be as good as it turned out to be, but the creative team delivered, and this week is arguably the best of the lot. Read on for the 5 page preview…
Clocking in as one of the movies that I have one of the most savage of impulses to see is Billy Majestic’s upcoming, “HUMPTY DUMPTY”. The film is as bizarre as it is surreal, and if you ever wondered what would have happened if little E.T would have ever crash-landed into the arms of people akin to Krug and his gang, then you will lust no more. That being said, it is a pleasant surprise to hear that the film will ALSO be getting a comic adaptation with Majestic at the helm, which will hit shelves this October. Below you can get all the details on the book and some advance art…

“Adapting the forthcoming feature film, two backwoods brothers ambush a landing party of extraterrestrial beings on their swampland, killing the males and taking the lone female captive. After months of torturous imprisonment and misconduct, she becomes impregnated by one of the sadistic brothers and dies giving birth to a monstrous, half-alien, half-human, egg-shaped creature with extraterrestrial powers, bent on bloody revenge — HUMPTY DUMPTY!”

Back almost an entire year ago during the last SDCC we brought you the news that “HALLOWEEN” director John Carpenter would be making his comic book debut with “ASYLUM”. The title was a welcome offering to the horror web-comic realm (The web only series is expected for a 12 volume run), but since then news has been nonexistent on the title…until today. Making its FORMAL debut later this week at the con, ‘ASYLUM’ will be illustrated by the creator, whose art will be complimented by such scribes as andy King, Thomas Ian Griffith, Bruce Jones, Jason Craig, Russell Jackson, Jeff Balke and Austin Janowsky. Inside you can check out a couple of images of the book, and don’t forget to keep it locked here to Bloody-Disgusting.com’s Graphic Content as we continue to bring you the most up to date horror comic announcements straight from the con!
