Anthrax Streams Cover Of Rush’s “Anthem”

Thrash metal legends Anthrax will be releasing an EP entitled Anthems, which features covers from six bands as well as the original and a remix of “Crawl”, which comes from their album Worship Music. Some of the bands they will be covering include AC/DC, Boston, and Thin Lizzy.

To give fans a taste of their takes on these classic, beloved songs, they have teamed up with Rolling Stone to stream their cover of Rush’s “Anthem”. You can listen to it here.

Anthrax To Release New EP ‘Anthems’

Thrash metal legends Anthrax will be releasing an 8-track EP entitled Anthems on March 19th in N. America. The EP features six covers from band such as Rush, Cheap Trick, Boston, and more, and two Anthrax tracks. For their cover of Boston’s “Smokin’,” the band brought in keyboardist Fred Mandel, who has recorded with Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd, Queen, Elton John, and many more.

Drummer Charlie Benante comments on the Boston cover, saying, “If ever there were a perfect first album, it’s Boston’s first album. The harmony leads they did would later be heard by Iron Maiden, which of course would lead to thrash metal.

Vocalist Joey Belladonna, “These are all bands I grew up with and have listened to forever. It’s just great music. I had fun singing these songs and I was happy recording together with Anthrax, doing classic rock songs. Fun stuff!READ MORE

A Badass Fall Tour Emerges: Judas Priest On The Road With Thin Lizzy And Black Label Society

Judas Priest have announced, in what is sure to make metalheads around the country lose their mind, that they will be hitting the road this fall with opening support coming from Thin Lizzy and Black Label Society. The tour will be part of the Epitaph touring cycle and comes after the departure of founding member, K.K. Downing, who has been replaced by Richie Faulkner. Check out the dates after the jump and let me know if you’re going to be at the Detroit show! My only concern is that the Detroit show is after the date for the impending apocalypse. Damn you Harold Camping for ruining my metal experience!
