Five More Actors Join Syfy’s “Tremors” Pilot

Published

on

With the pilot gearing up to begin shooting in Albuquerque, New Mexico, five actors have signed on to star alongside the returning Kevin Bacon in Syfy’s “Tremors”!

Via Deadline, P.J. Byrne (Final Destination 5), Hunter Parrish (“Weeds”), Ebonée Noel (“Wrecked”), Brandon Jay McLaren (“Ransom”), and Haley Tju (“Bella and the Bulldogs”) are the latest to join the cast.

Byrne will play Melvin, a survivor of the original Graboid attack and real estate developer obsessed with reinventing Perfection, all fueled by jealousy he holds for Valentine McKee.

Parrish is Arthur Brandt, a young, magnetic leader of the pot-growing, earth-worshipping tribe of Millenials who’ve moved to Perfection to soak in its unique spiritual energy.

Noel will portray Zoe, a truth-seeker possessed with deep, sensual intuition and mystic power. Zoe’s connection to Mother Earth is aided by Perfection’s unique energy and provides her with visions of events to come.

McLaren is Toby, a likable guy who nobody likes; he’s the public liaison to a data storage company in Perfection that failed to create any local jobs. He’s hanging around to facilitate the company’s transition from staffed to unmanned operation.

Tju will portray Jai, a dirt-biking drug smuggler and Perfection’s resident badass.

Based on the 1990 film of the same name, “Tremors” picks up 25 years after the killer Graboid worms nearly destroyed the Nevada town of Perfection. Bacon plays Valentine McKee, who beat the sandworms once and will attempt to do it again; but first he’ll have to deal with age, alcohol and a delusional hero complex.

Emily Tremaine (“Vinyl”), Megan Ketch (“American Gothic”), Shiloh Fernandez (Evil Dead), Toks Olagundoye (“Castle”) and John Ellison Conlee (“Boardwalk Empire) also star.

From Universal Cable Productions, the “Tremors” pilot will be directed by Vincenzo Natali from a script by Andrew Miller, who will also serve as showrunner and executive producer along with Bacon and David Schiff in association with Blumhouse Television.

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).

Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.

While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.

The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.

Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.

We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
