Launch Trailer and Date for ‘Friday the 13th: The Game’ Physical Release!

The wait is almost over.

We’ve already been playing (and loving) Gun Media and Illfonic’s Friday the 13th: The Game for a couple months now, but many fans have been waiting on the physical copy. It was initially announced that it’d be headed our way this summer, but it just got a much more fitting date.

The developers have announced today, via launch trailer, that Friday the 13th: The Game will hit Playstation 4 and Xbox One on Friday, October 13!

Included with all physical copies is an exclusive Bloody Jason Skin for all playable Jasons and free pack of clothing for each of the playable camp counselors.

*There will be a bloody skin for all digital players as well, coming at a later date. It will be different than the physical one.*

You can pre-order the discs today for $39.99.

    awesome

  • Yay!

Too bad they released a broken game when it first came out and then took so long to fix it, especially on the Xbox One. As of this past weekend when they finally patch the Xbox One version it appears to be too little too late as I have not been able to find a single match since the patch was released. Either everybody quit or the patch messed up something else

  • Justin McGill

Surprisingly there was zero mention of the single player being on the disc! I assumed they would have that ready for the pressed discs.

    • Ocelot006 .

Yeah. It is odd that there is no mention of the single player because I swore they said they would release the physical edition as basically the complete package. When everything was done, all DLC made and single player ready, BAM! Here’s your physical copy.

      • Justin McGill

Let’s just hope it was an oversight.. It it’s they didn’t feel the need to mention it as a given.. the date they’ve given should be at the latest a month before the physical disc is released.

i’m not much of a gamer so forgive my silly(?) question but…so will there be a single player version for either PS3 or regular computer?

    • Eastman420

      Yes

    • KrisXX

      No PS3. PS4/XB1.

  • jasonlives1986

So those of us who own the digital copy won’t get the skin and have to wait longer for a similar skin. So much for taking care of the customers who you already have.

And is anyone surprised that the physical copy is gonna miss it’s summer release by over 2 months?

    • KSE1977

Not sure they have addressed if they will give that to the digital folks, but then again we knew what we were getting when we purchased the game, so if they want to incentivise the physical release more power to them. I feel like I got my money’s worth already

      • jasonlives1986

Why would anyone buy this broken game twice.

        • KSE1977

I already bought the game. I assume this is for new folks. Plus for all the rhetoric of this game being broken, I have been able to play the heck out of it, maxed out my killer and had a great time and I know plenty who have also been able to do so. Can it be frustrating with the quitters and glitches? Sure, but it is still playable.

      • Christopher Nickerson

I beg to differ about knowing what I want getting. When I spent $40 on the game digitally, I thought I was getting a playable multi-player game. I did not know I was getting a broken game that would take over 2 months to get fixed

        • KSE1977

Ahh see, I supported a Kickstarter campaign for a game and essentially received what my pledge paid for. Having supported enough campaigns, I was prepared for the buggy release. Anybody who purchased after release did so in full knowledge of the bugs and glitches. It is what it is, but I have enjoyed the game immensely so far, sorry that you have not.

          • Christopher Nickerson

There is a difference between buggy and broken. Buggy implies the game works with issues, on XB1 this game was broken until late last week.

          • KSE1977

Ahh, well there you go. I was playing the PC version. Although I do have the X1 version as well from the Kickstarter. I don’t mean to suggest that the game not working is okay. Or that the company should be focused on anything other than fixing the game and optimizing it. Shoot if they have sold almost 2 million copies, assuming this is outside of crowdfunding, then there is no excuse for them not to be focused on fixing the technical aspects.

I will try the X1 version when i get back in town and see how it compares. Thanks for the heads-up!

          • Christopher Nickerson

The last patch fixed the constant crashing on XB1, but matching is still not working properly and using the XB1 “looking for group” option is the only reliable way to find matches. Two months after release and the matchmaking system is still broken. Then there are the glitches plaguing all versions that are game breaking if people use them as well as baby hosts that quit when they lose yet something as old as host migration still hasn’t been implemented.

Notice how they just keep taking the part 3 skin and changing it’s color? That’s what the NES skin is….Part 3…new color. I wish they would put the single player out or maybe a new map. I am rapidly approaching the level cap for multiplayer and am itching for new content!

    • iM Vuze

The NES skin is Part 3 because that is what NECA used for their NES figure so that was a good reason. This bloody Jason is just lazy.

      • Travis_Bickle

        So you agree?

        • iM Vuze

No because what you said comes off as the NES skin was lazy as well when it had a good reason to be part 3. Based on your comment it sounded like you wanted a whole new skin for NES Jason and not just a palette swap.

          • Travis_Bickle

Yes, thats correct. I did want a whole new skin for NES Jason. I work in the video game industry and know how not hard it is to just change the color on something.

They seem to just build off that CM, so it’s getting a bit repetitive. The blood splatter skin is kind of whatever. They should focus on fixing the glaring bugs in the game. Don’t get me wrong. I am almost at the level cap, so I play the game. I just wish they were making better choices.

          • iM Vuze

In regards to the NES skin I understand and completely back their reasoning as to why they used Part 3. NECA used the Part 3 mold for their NES figure so it was really cool for GUN to do the same. Now where we both agree is in regards for this skin. We both agree it looks unimaginative and lazy because there is no real reason for it to be Part 3.

          • Travis_Bickle

            Good….lets hug it out.

          • iM Vuze

            Okay. Can we cuddle after?

          • Travis_Bickle

            Duh…

    • sblast13

The info up above does state that all the playable Jasons will have a blood skin. If this is the case not sure why they only showed off Part 3 and not the others but let’s wait and see if this is the case or not.

  • Necro

Glad to hear this, but I had a feeling the “summer” release date for this was bullshit to begin with, so no surprise to hear mid October.

  • Darkknight2149

Will the single player mode be added by then?

    • Ocelot006 .

I pray but you’d figure if it were the case, they would have announced it.

      • dukeblues

Im not much for video games but I would not buy it without single player mode. I have no interest in playing teeny boppers a continent away.

        • Ocelot006 .

          Yeah little kids ruin everything.

Although the black people make it fun.

“You racist fucking cracker ass Jason trying to kill me cause I got big dick. You fucking white faced bitch ass nigga. I’ll fuck you up. Only trying to kill me to get your gold card in the Klan you honky ass bitch testicle.”

  • The Drucifer

As a backer who will be getting the physical copy as well I’m totally cool with this. Two different bloody Jason skins so I can piss off more people will suit me just fine.

  • Ocelot006 .

I’ll probably buy it again for that nice box. Forty bucks for a box. But that’s me.

    • Tan Shearer

Well wait a few months and it’ll be $20 for a box.

      • Ocelot006 .

I could die any day. Ain’t no time for waiting.

  • American Atheist

Nice! I’ll buy it for the nostalgia alone. I was waiting to see if there’d be a physical release. I hate digital only. I need both. Physical just in case digital screws up.

Where’s my Freddy Kruger game? Serious potential there. Eventually a Freddy vs Jason game….one can dream….

  • Hoping to see a decent collectors idea from these guys. Otherwise I’ll pick if up at a later time, not a day one for me.

  • I’m still waiting for it to be Linux compatible 🙂
