[Trailer] ‘World War Z’ Video Game Coming in 2018!

We’ve spent thousands of years at the top of the food chain.

It was fun while it lasted.

Ahead of David Fincher’s sequel, Saber Interactive and Paramount revealed at The Game Awards last night that a video game set in the World War Z universe is on the way!

“The game centers on unique survivor stories and missions around the globe, including New York, Moscow, and Jerusalem. Use traps, barriers and the environment strategically to stay alive while unleashing a storm of firepower with a variety of weapons on the unrelenting hordes of the undead.”

The four-player coop third-person shooter will arrive in 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can check out the reveal trailer below!

Hell that story makes for a better game than a movie!

Funny enough that’s exactly what I thought when I watched it.

I thought, “man, they took an excellent book, gutted literally every aspect of it except for the main characters name, aaaaaaand…turned it into Left 4 Dead the movie. How disappointing”

I’d much rather play this than watch the cinematic version

  • Josh Blitzenbrox Myers

WOW. This is the best graphics mod for LEFT 4 DEAD ever!

Playstation two just called they want their game back.

If the movie was called anything but World War Z I wouldn’t have minded it. But the fact that they spent a ton of money to acquire this license, only to remove EVERY aspect of it to the point that nothing even resembles the source material (even down to changing the style of zombie) means that Max Brooks’s ACTUAL story will likely never be made.

The actual World War Z would have been great as an episodic anthology style television series

Instead we get a generic movie, and a beautiful but derivative game

If they’d made it a TV series with interviews like the book) in between bits of action, it could’ve been quite something.
The movie, quite frankly and as you mentioned, was NOT World War Z.

      • Josh Blitzenbrox Myers

Yeah. When it was announced they were making a World War z movie I was pretty elated, until details started to emerge. I think my reaction went from “Sweet!” to “Well…shit” pretty quickly

      • Josh Blitzenbrox Myers

Exactly. It’s basically a bait and switch. You try to sell it to the fans with the name, but deliver none of what they came to see. I heard Congo was like that too, no relation whatsoever to the book, though I’ve never read it

movie wasn’t as bad as i expecting I thought it be really bad it entertain me to say the least. Never read the book. Prob will now.

When I saw that the film was going to be made, I was expecting a turd show. Then I saw who was attached to it, Pitt fighting for the film to be made closer to the novel (and getting eaten alive by the studio), I gave up all expectations. If the film had something other than that title, I think we’d all have enjoyed it a lot more, but because they lied, well… kind of hard to not get bent over it (and I did, trust me).

Later, after a few glasses of wine, I just let it roll over me. I grew to love it, and hope some day Ken Burns will be approached to make it a full video novel, each chapter a separate episode (or two, depending). Tell that tale, which would be amazing. Then again, to hell with them… I just go read the book again. Maybe learn some animation skills and do it myself, just for fun.

But the cold did stop them…in the awesome book

  • I actually really liked the WWZ movie. I am wondering, though – Is the game based on the film or the original novel?

    • Josh Blitzenbrox Myers

Movie 100%. In the novel the zombies are the classic undead shufflers. There was no ridiculous speedrunning parkour “zombies” that I recall

How long has this game been in development? I just want Dead Island 2 for shit sake.

    • zombie84_41

me too. this came out of nowhere lol.

Dead Island 2/Days Gone…Dying Light might have four or five games by the time we ever see either or at all. Though I feel Days Gone has a good chance of coming before DI2.

    • gjk2012 .

Dead Island 2 better not have the reflective shiny blood like in Dead Island Definitive Edition.
