Offline Bots FINALLY Arrive in ‘Friday the 13th: The Game’ TODAY!

The latest patch update for Friday the 13th: The Game hits Steam and Playstation 4 today, December 18th, with the update headed to Xbox One in the very near future.

As we told you last week, beloved Part 3 character Shelly Finkelstein joins the game as a playable counselor with the update, which also brings Offline Bots to the table!

The developers explain..

“Maybe you hate playing online with people. Maybe you want to learn the lay of the land in all the maps. Maybe you just want to practice laying waste to scores of counselors. No matter the why of your situation, today I am happy to announce that the next update of Friday the 13th: The Game will include offline bots. To access this new feature, you’ll want to select the new “Offline Play” menu item, and then “Offline Bots”. Next up you’ll want to select the map you want to play on, and select your preferred Jason

Offline Bots work very similar to a multiplayer match, except you can play it without an internet connection. You can only play alone, meaning you can not invite your friends to play co-op. Also, you can only play as Jason in this mode. There’s a few reasons why you can only play as Jason, with the number one being the programming needed for believable Jason AI. We’ve all seen/experienced bad AI, and the last thing we wanted was to see Jason walking non-stop into a wall and not chasing you. That’s not fun, nor is it scary.

Finally, you will be able to select how difficult the bots you play against will be from the 3 difficulty levels included in the update – Easy, Normal, and Hard. The higher the difficulty you choose, the longer counselors will remember you being in the area, the more likely they are to fight you, the quicker they are to react to your presence, the quicker they are to exit hiding spaces when you leave, and the more likely they are to use Medical Sprays smartly.

They’ll fix cars, boats, hide in closets, under beds, in sleeping bags, barricade doors, and more to keep you from making them into another victim. Feel like honing your single prey hunting skills? You’ll be able to select from 1 to 7 counselors in your offline game to ensure that you are playing against exactly how many counselors you want to stalk.”

Today’s update also includes a Max Level update, from 101 to 150, along with new unlockable clothing for counselors and new grab kills for the big guy himself.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

New ‘Necrophosis’ Trailer Dives Further Into Its Dystopian Visuals; Demo Coming Soon [Watch]

After teasing fans with prototype footage back in January, Dragonis Games and Adonis Brosteanu’s first-person horror adventure Necrophosis has received a new teaser trailer, which leans hard into the look and feel of its inspiration in Zdzisław Beksiński‘s art, as well as some Lovecraftian overtones thrown in for good measure.

Despite the trailer being a visual feast with no gameplay at the moment, Dragonis Games will be remedying that with the release of a short demo for Necrophosis “soon”, which aims to “captivate horror enthusiasts and puzzle solvers alike, urging players to uncover the secrets hidden in this twisted reality [of Necrophosis]”.

Necrophosis takes place in an unknown realm where everything is dead and decayed. You wake up to a mysterious figure presenting himself as your guide to this harsh world. Players will go through “a mysterious and macabre series of events”, coming face to face with horrific entities and mind-bending puzzles, where “the boundaries between reality and hellish visions blur into a haunting tapestry of dread.” Each location features its own theme, puzzles, and integral characters, interconnected in a non-linear fashion.

As you progress, you’ll unlock hidden realms and abilities, and encounter “a myriad of chilling sights, urging you to fathom the unfathomable.” Each location will be presented “like a sinister puzzle box” and feature their own set of unique mechanics, accompanied with narrations and famous poems.

Necrophosis can currently be wishlisted on Steam.
