‘TerrorDrome’ Team Developing New Horror Fighting Game ‘TerrorDrome: Reign of the Legends’

Before Friday the 13th: The Game came along and horror icons like Freddy and Jason made their way into Mortal Kombat, there was TerrorDrome, an unofficial, fan-made fighting game that brought together all our favorite movie monsters for epic battles to the death. The team behind the game is back with TerrorDrome: Reign of the Legends!

This brand new game under the TerrorDrome banner is sadly doing away with licensed horror characters in an effort to be more official and, ya know, less illegal, but it’s staying true to the TerrorDrome name by being an all-horror fighting game in the style of Mortal Kombat. Instead of movie icons, Reign of the Legends is being billed as “the first horror fighting game with classic monsters, urban legends and mythological creatures.”

“Horror icons and urban legends clash in a battle to the death in Terrordrome: Reign of the Legends, an original fighting game from the team that brought you Terrordrome: Rise of the Boogeymen. TRDM: ROTL explores legends, folklore, myths and the paranormal both in its characters and stages, while incorporating conspiracy theories as the base material for the storyline. Legends and icons are re-imagined in a story set in the present day, continuing the legacy of many of the world’s favorite monsters and cryptids.”

The game will feature 10 characters in the initial roster (11 if the team hits their Cassie Hack stretch goal), with an estimated release in Q4 2019. An early access version will be available Q4 2018. All backers that purchase the full game will have early access to beta builds up until the release of that early access version.

Down the road, Season 2 and 3 are planned to be released in the form of DLC and consists of additional characters and the continuation of the main story.

‘El Paso, Elsewhere’ – LaKeith Stanfield Starring in Adaptation of Monster Hunting Video Game

Last year’s monster hunting shooter El Paso, Elsewhere is headed to the screen, with THR reporting that LaKeith Stanfield (Haunted Mansion) will star in the live action film adaptation.

Stanfield will also produce the film alongside Lorenzo di Bonaventura.

THR notes in today’s report, “There is no writer or director, as the project is still being packaged in the hopes of finding a studio home. The package is seen as buzzy, as it is a video game adaptation, a bustling genre thanks to titles such as The Last of Us, the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, and the most recent hit, Fallout.”

In the upcoming movie version of El Paso, Elsewhere, “Recovering from a toxic relationship, James Savage (LaKeith Stanfield) confronts both his inner demons and enigmatic ex-girlfriend, Janet, before she executes a world-ending ritual. James navigates her reality-bending universe of ethereal monsters while facing the truth of his own addictions and skewed sense of self-worth. James learns that the only route to love is through healing.”

Developer Strange Scaffold’s El Paso, Elsewhere was released this past September.

Aaron Boehm wrote in his 4-star review here on Bloody Disgusting, “Much like its inspiration Max Payne, and other games in Remedy’s catalog, there’s a clear vision that unites every frame of this game, making for an experience that both reignites a classic action subgenre and forges an identity all its own. Few games have a better elevator pitch than El Paso, Elsewhere, and it’s awesome to see it live up to those expectations with style and heart.”
