It was announced last week that NBC had given a series order to “Constantine,” the DC Comics/Warner Bros. TV adaptation starring Matt Ryan as the chain-smokin’ title character.
As a Mother’s Day treat, NBC released a 3-minute long promo trailer for the fantasy vehicle “about occult master and demon hunter John Constantine, who is tasked with defending humanity from the forces of evil.”
I was impressed with the trailer as it features some awesomely creepy footage, and it’s got a clear arc and hook. Although, it really bothers me that he doesn’t smoke, which is weird because I can’t stand smoking. I guess he truly is a modern day Constantine?
Harold Perrineau Jr., Lucy Griffiths and Charles Halford co-star. Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer exec produce.
The project is based on the “Hellblazer” comic book series. It has already been adapted into the 2005 feature film starring Keanu Reeves.
