Way back in March, developer Hekate had announced that they were pushing the release date for their WWI psychological horror game Ad Infinitum to September. Today, the team has narrowed down the release date to September 14th for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and the Xbox Series. Not only that, but you can now pre-order the game, as well as spring for the cool Nightmare Edition for consoles.

Available for PlayStation and Xbox, the Nightmare Edition of Ad Infinitum includes a digital artbook and a digital copy of the soundtrack. You’ll also be able to enjoy the game earlier thanks to the 48-hour early access. And, by pre-ordering, you also get a 10% discount on the Nightmare Edition.

Ad Infinitum puts you in the boots of a German soldier stuck in the trenches during The Great War. In this surreal nightmare focusing on atmosphere and story, you must overcome pain, despair and corruption while fighting for your life and sanity. Terrible creatures, death traps, and insane mysteries mark your path through the battlefield. Overcome them to save your soul and reveal more sinister truths.

Flashing between your bedroom  in a run-down and deserted manor house and the trenches, through exploration and by solving riddles and puzzles between the walls of your home and the barbed wire of No Man’s Land, you ultimately reveal a chapter in the story of a German family torn apart by war.

Puppet Combo Brings ‘The Glass Staircase’ to Steam, Consoles on May 24 [Trailer]

Puppet Combo are once again taking it old-school in more ways than one. Originally released in 2019 on itch.io, the developer has announced that their PS2 Survival Horror-inspired title The Glass Staircase will be headed to Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch on May 24.

Described as “a short-form old-school psychological horror game”, The Glass Staircase takes place in 1922, inside a dilapidated estate converted into an orphanage. Four girls attempt to survive long enough to complete their chores and find a new home. As these things go, unknowable horrors have punctuated the history of the house, and they’re about to learn about them the hard way.

Rather than focusing on grotesque slasher horror, The Glass Staircase is a surreal and atmospheric game, inspired by PS2 survival horror titles like Silent Hill 2 and the GameCube classic Eternal Darkness. Of course, you have to toss in those classic 80s Italian horror movies such as The Beyond, House by the Cemetery, and Suspiria.

Players will be able to customize their experience in The Glass Staircase with a selection of control styles (including the classic tank controls), graphical modes, and CRT effects. You can go for the classic lo-fi experience, or opt for something more modern.

If you’re keen on seeing what we originally thought when the game first released way back when, you can check out our impressions of the itch.io version.
