Before Pacific Rim Uprising smashes its way into theaters on March 23, the film is getting its own prequel via a digital web-comic titled Pacific Rim: Amara.

The series, which launched this past Friday and will see new chapters added to the saga every Friday up to Uprising‘s release, follows a young heroine we’ll meet in Uprising.

“As the Kaiju Wars rage on, Pacific Rim: Amara follows Amara Namani, whose life is shattered when she is orphaned during a devastating monster attack. Fighting to survive as her city is destroyed, she finds shelter with a grumpy mech-inventor named Kai and his closest companion, Hannah. The trio forms an unlikely family in the aftermath of the invasion, looking out for one another and scavenging old mech parts to build their very own Jaeger, a pilotable giant robot with the power to protect Amara from the monsters that took everything from her.”

Pacific Rim: Amara is being released through LINE Webtoons, with the first three chapters currently available for your enjoyment.

Cavan Scott and Zhang Ran wrote Amara, illustrated by BigN.
