Kicking off in November, a new Marvel arc titled The Last Avenger will see the rise of “Dark Captain Marvel,” an evil version of Carol Danvers who has one mission: kill the Avengers.
As revealed by CBR.com, the arc kicks off with Captain Marvel #12, with writer Kelly Thompson and artist Lee Garbett taking the beloved character in a bold new direction.
“Captain Marvel has fought off alien hordes. Rescued X-Men. Punched Thanos in the face. Literally saved the world. She now faces her greatest challenge: kill the Avengers.
“Has one of the world’s most powerful heroes gone dark? But why? And what does this mean for Carol… for the world? Life on Earth will never be the same.”
Thompson tweeted this week, “While I know this is gonna scare a lot of you, I hope you can trust me that we’re telling an incredible #CaptainMarvel story and – I think – a story unlike we’ve ever seen before in Carol’s book. So excited to have @LeeGarbett joining us for this bold new arc!”
