Announced this week, Valiant is bringing Shadowman back to life for a brand new, horror-heavy comic series launching in May, written by Cullen Bunn with art by Jon Davis-Hunt.
“Shadowman is effectively a superhero, operating in a horror movie,” Davis-Hunt explains, teasing that each issue will see Shadowman fighting different monsters in different locations.
Bunn promises, “This is THE comic book for a horror fan who has never read comics before. While there is an overarching plot in the series, each issue of Shadowman is like a standalone mini horror movie. Every issue presents a new horror concept in an intense visual way. We’ve got action and drama and every flavor of horror. Let’s face it, this is a horror hero book created by horror fans… and our fellow horror fans will love it!”
We can exclusively reveal today that each issue of Shadowman will feature cover artwork that pays tribute to horror movie poster art, proving that this series is indeed made by fans for fans.
Editor Heather Antos explains, “When you have a project as creative and fun as this one, it’s important to work with creators who are just as excited about the prospect. Luckily, Dave Johnson, Francesco Francavilla, Erica Henderson, and Juan Gimenez are all extremely well-versed in horror films and pop culture for this first batch of homage variants, and I could not be more thrilled to be working with such a talented crew.”
