I’m not a huge sports guy but the one I can actually stand to watch on television is basketball. And if you follow Mr. Disgusting’s twitter feed, you’ll know that basketball takes up almost as much of his spectrum of passions as horror does.
So in honor of Thursday’s upcoming NBA Draft I’ve decided to craft a special little list in honor of that mix of interests. These are necessarily all kills, just fun scenes where the two worlds collide.

Teen Wolf
I’m not sure how the idea ever came together that we should see a werewolf playing basketball onscreen, but since Teen Wolf adheres to literally zero of the established werewolf rules I guess it’s fair game. The movie itself isn’t all that great, but it does work nicely as a coming of age metaphor – improved basketball skills included.
A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge
Screenwriter David Chaskin has been frank enough about the significance of pelting Marshall Bell’s Coach Schneider with balls before ultimately flaying him alive in a steaming shower. Still, this scene incorporates a number of sports tropes nicely – including the risqué towel snap.
Friday The 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan
Boxing is most certainly a sport, and Jason decidedly wins this round. Not a hugely compelling scene in totality, but the final punch is a knockout.
Fatal Games
I like the simplicity of this one. A productive cool down session punctuated by a lone, effective throw. A minimalist move by slasher standards, but a decisive one.
Deadly Friend
The grand mother of sports related kills as far as I can tell. While Kristy Swanson and Anne Ramsay aren’t playing a game or anything, Swanson makes good use of a previously confiscated basketball. The result is nothing less than explosive, with a velocity you’d have to be some kind of machine to replicate.
