5 Unforgettable Twists On Zombies in Video Games!

Resident Evil Revelations – T-Abyss Virus

Zomb1

After Resident Evil 6 threatened to ruin everything with its assortment of silly J’avo mutations, which sometimes resulted in unintentionally hilarious man-spiders and guys with chicken legs, Resident Evil Revelations is worthy of a spot on this list just for making Resident Evil scary again.

It wasn’t perfect, but Revelations was a massive step forward for a franchise that’s spent much of the last five years going backward. It was a breath of fresh air, thanks to its willingness to improve upon a number of areas where previous games fell flat. The game was atmospheric, introduced us to an imaginative and thoroughly unsettling assortment of monsters, and managed to be challenging without closing itself off to newcomers.

It’d be tough picking a favorite among the monsters the new T-Abyss virus created. The Ooze were memorable, and not just because they were the variant we saw the most of. Watching a few of them slog through an empty corridor, their misshapen forms creeping toward me at an uneven pace is something I won’t soon forget. And the moments leading up to the reveal of the Scagdead proved Capcom is still very capable of both building up suspense and giving us a worthy payoff.

With this spin-off series, the foundation has been built. It’s up to Capcom to build on that success with the sequel.
