Honorable Mention: Siren – Shibito

If its pure terror you want, look no further than Siren. The Shibito are plenty unnerving without me explaining what makes them special, but if you haven’t played this (fantastic) series, let me quickly tell you about Sight Jack. This feature was first seen in the original Siren and it does exactly what its name implies. With Sight Jack you can “hack” into the vision of any nearby Shibito. Nifty idea, right?
Wrong.
Siren is very much an old school survival horror game, so the character(s) you control aren’t particularly capable of defending themselves. So when you think you’re being clever, using Sight Jack to find the locations of nearby Shibito.
What usually happens is you’ll see a familiar sight, like the back of your character, through the distorted vision of the Shibito that’s been creeping up behind you, giving you just enough time to panic before it strikes.
Or at least that’s been my experience with it.
Now it’s your turn to give me your thoughts. Come on, I need them. They’re sustenance to me. Let me know what your favorite zombie “spin-off” has been so far in the comments below.
