With the upcoming release of The Endless River, the first new Pink Floyd album in 20 years, I wanted to venture into the band’s past to their 1975 album Wish You Were Here and to its second track, the gorgeous yet haunting “Welcome To The Machine”. Tackling the subject of the music industry and its focus on money rather than artistic expression, it’s a timeless song, one that resonates today, nearly 40 years after its initial release.
The video, which was animated by Gerald Scarfe, is just as eerie as the track itself, featuring a lumbering mechanical beast, an ocean of blood where waves resemble arms, and a rather shocking decapitation.
Give it a view below and make sure to leave some recommendations for next week!
