4. Ballistic (Black Mask Studios)
Adam Egypt Mortimer and Darick Robertson have created all sorts of fringe body horror with their batshit crazy comic series “Ballistic,” which I literally cannot say enough amazing things about. Lazarus Taxa, the Biotechnium, alone is fantastic body horror. But the bright shining star of body horror in “Ballistic” is Butch and his anthropomorphic gun, which physically binds, molds, attaches, connects, integrates–whatever word works for you–with Butch’s arm. It’s one of the coolest forms of body modification mixed with mutation in comics…period.
