Steve & Diane Freeling – Poltergeist
Here they are, the whole reason that I wrote this piece. You know what my favorite scene is in this movie? It’s not one of the horror scenes but rather the time when Steve and Diane are in their bedroom, rolling joints, smoking pot, and just talking. THIS is what a real couple looks like. They don’t need to have sex or cuddle, or look perfect for the camera. They can joke about Steve’s weight, be concerned about their kids and the unfinished pool in the backyard, talk about what issues they think are going on, etc… All of the things that parents actually do! And through it all, the love that their characters feel for one another seems so real. What a wonderful job these two did together in these roles.
