Twisted Music Video Of The Week Vol. 187: Bonobo “Cirrus”

A couple of weeks ago, I brought Sigur Rós as the Twisted Music Video Of The Week. Many of you commented that you really enjoyed that it wasn’t another metal band taking a spot on this series, so I wanted to try and bring something once again that didn’t rely upon distorted guitars and gore to create something “twisted”. Instead, I wanted to bring something that is visually unique and perhaps a bit disorienting. For this week, I’m bringing you “Cirrus” by electronic act Bonobo.

The video is created almost like a zoetrope. For those of you who don’t know, a zoetrope is a form of animation that uses multiple drawings, each slightly different from one another, to create the illusion of movement. For an example, check out this short but perfect video.

Interestingly, the 12″ vinyl for this album was also its own kind of zoetrope, using the spinning of the turntable to create the illusion of movement. Here’s a great picture of the record.
