“Hey, let’s take The Wizard Of Oz, one of the most beloved and recognized musicals of all time and then let’s turn it into a fucking nightmare of unfathomable proportions!!!”
When Dorothy returned home from Oz, who honestly thought that she’d enter a bleak depression and be subject to electrical shock treatments? Anyone? Exactly! This was a complete 180 from the original film, although it’s considered to be closer to the source material.
However, I have to give credit to the amazing visuals throughout the film. Also, it’s got Fairuza Balk, who is, in her own way, a horror staple, thanks to The Craft, The Island Of Dr. Moreau, and her appearance in the “Pick Me Up” episode of Masters Of Horror.
