Growing up someone had given me a Creature action figure that I always used as the villain to my “Ninja Turtles” and “Voltron” mashups. Years after I realized I had the guy wrong – what makes him and this film so great isn’t just his monstrous look, but the “Beauty and the Beast” structure that endears him to audiences.
