9. The Couch Shadow (Paranormal Activity 2)
Toby takes the form of a malicious shadow for part of Paranormal Activity 2. This is one of those suspenseful moments that the Paranormal Activity franchise has become so good at doing: Toby slowly creeping toward one of the characters, before something interrupts him. Nothing may happen to these characters yet, but the creeping dread is palpable in sequences like this.
