The Final Girls

The Final Girls is more a comedy and an emotional family drama than a horror movie, but it sends up 80s slashers gloriously. Come for the parody, stay for the tear-jerker climax. Just ignore the horrendous cover art on the Blu-Ray (seriously, why wouldn’t you just keep the movie poster?!).

The Gift

As I mentioned in my review, The Gift deserved to be the sleeper hit of the summer. Sadly, it didn’t quite make it that far, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a great film. The Gift is a slow burn to one of the most devastating endings in film history and should be required viewing for horror fans everywhere.

It Follows

Like The Babadook, It Follows was believed by many to be one of the best horror movies of the year. It’s an excellent throwback to 70s horror films and it really feels timeless when you watch it. Add to the fact that it’s quite terrifying and you’ve got the makings of a Blu-Ray that needs to be added to your collection immediately.

Mad Max: Fury Road

We gave Mad Max: Fury Road two different 5-Skull reviews, and for good reason: it’s one of the best films of the year. It’s also one of the best Blu-Ray releases of the year.
