Twisted Music Video of the Week Vol. 219: Aesop Rock “Rings”

I’m not the biggest fan of hip hop. In fact, I barely listen to the genre. I have a few albums here and there but it’s not something I find myself coming to with great frequency. That being said, I fully realize and recognize the genius of Aesop Rock, the New York rapper who is considered by many to have the largest vocabulary in the genre. As a result, his songs are linguistically fascinating, begging multiple listens as well as espousing the need for a dictionary. It also doesn’t hurt that his music is groovy as hell.

That’s why I want to celebrate the artist’s latest video for his track “Rings” from the upcoming album The Impossible Kid, which comes out April 29th (pre-order here). The video shows Aesop Rock having been hit by a car and subsequently undergoing an autopsy. However, his organs are actually craft boxes that each feature something unique and interesting. It’s an expertly crafted video that has a playfully twisted vibe to it that I absolutely adore and wanted to share!
