Hellraiser
This modernized Hellraiser trailer from Jordan G. Productions plays out like an outright nightmare. While giving away a little too much of the plot for my liking (though that is arguably something that a lot of modern trailers tend to do), I love how it descends into ultra gory, somewhat head-scratching, but ultimately hypnotizing madness. I also really dig the abrupt title card. Overall, this trailer has a really unsettling and outright shocking vibe to it that fits Hellraiser to a T.
The Shining
S. Thomas Crane‘s modernization of The Shining‘s trailer really does a wonderful job of conveying the plot of the film while channeling Jack Torrance’s decent into madness quite well in its editing. I especially loved the use of Shelley Duval’s screams over the title card fade-in–and of course Nicholson’s one-liner and iconic, maniacal laugh.
Prom Night
While I think we’d all love to see a Prom Night trailer somehow based solely on the famously long disco sequence from Paul Lynch’s 1980 slasher, MrJosephSlaughter still delivers a mighty entertaining modern recut. His edit actually feels very reminiscent of late-’90s/early-’00s slashers like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Valentine, and though I much prefer Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II, this trailer delivers high energy fun for slasher fans like myself.
