DEAD AWAKE

From the creator of Final Destination (Jeffrey Reddick), Dead Awake is the upcoming supernatural horror feature based on Sleep Paralysis, an actual petrifying affliction that has millions of reported cases every year.

Directed by Phillip Guzman and starring Jocelin Donahue (Insidious: Chapter 2, House of the Devil), Jesse Bradford (Swimfan, Flags of Our Fathers, Bring It On), and Lori Petty (Orange is The New Black, Tank Girl, Point Break), the film tells the story of a young woman who must save herself and her friends from an ancient evil that stalks its victims through the terrifying real-life phenomenon of Sleep Paralysis.

Bloody Disgusting has the first trailer that gives heavy homage to Wes Craven’s A Nightmare On Elm Street. In it, we see that Donahue must use her mind to battle this dream demon, called a “Hag”, who paralyses Donahue’s body while she sleeps.

Completing the main cast are Brea Grant (Halloween 2, Heroes, Dexter), Jesse Borrego (American Crime, Dexter, Blood In Blood Out), and James Eckhouse (The Avengers, Beverly Hills 90210).

‘Dead Awake’ centers on Kate Bowman (Jocelin Donahue), a young woman who discovers an ancient evil stalking people who suffer from sleep paralysis.  As Kate finds herself besieged by this terrifying entity, she teams up with a local artist (Jesse Bradford) to try and stop it. With a skeptical doctor (Lori Petty) questioning her sanity, Kate turns to an eccentric expert on sleep disorders (Jesse Borrego) who opens her mind to the horrifying truth: Kate has unwittingly opened the door for this evil to enter our world and has put the lives of her friend Linda (Brea Grant), her father (James Eckhouse), and everyone else close to her in danger.

The film will have its world premiere at Shriekfest 2016 in Los Angeles on October 8 at 8:00 pm, with the East Coast Premiere set for the FearNYC film festival on Wednesday October 26th at 9:00.  Galen Walker, James LaMarr and Derek Lee Nixon produced the film along with Philip Marlatt, Kurt Wehner and Phillip Guzman. Executive Producers A.J. Gutierrez, Ashley Wellberg, Jeffrey Reddick, and Tony DiStefano complete the producing team.

The movie has just launched a website where you can subscribe to updates and upload your own sleep paralysis stories.
