Colin Alexander Reimagines John Carpenter’s Iconic ‘Halloween’ Theme for an Unmade Reboot Pitch from 2012 [Exclusive]

Just after running our Phantom Limbs article covering the unproduced 2012 Halloween pitch penned by The Night House/Hellraiser writers Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski (read here), Mr. Piotrowski passed along a special treat for Bloody Disgusting readers to check out once they’ve read the story.

Mr. Collins explains: “We did one other funny thing. I don’t even know if anybody ever heard it, but … just for the fun of it, I had a friend of mine make a version of the [Halloween] theme song. Our whole pitch was that it was going to be stylish and director-driven. You know, the Drive version of Halloween, as it were. So, just with a day’s notice, I asked a friend of mine from college – actually, the sound designer that we work with on some of our movies, Colin Alexander – I was like, “Hey, could you make a Drive version of the Halloween theme? Is that possible?”

Sure enough, it was, and here it is – the synthy, cold version of Carpenter’s iconic theme which, in this writer’s opinion, would perfectly suit the story Collins and Piotrowski pitched.

“It was one of those overzealous, “Oh, look! We can show them how cool we are that we had this idea to get a song for the thing,’” Collins laughs. “Like, nobody ever fuckin’ heard that thing, probably. It was just attached in an e-mail that nobody paid attention to.”

Nevertheless, it’s a great, seasonally appropriate treat for fans. Comment below and let us know what you think!

Special Thanks to Colin Alexander, Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski!
