[Exclusive] Hear “Make Us Whole”, a New Track From Trevor Gureckis’ Score for ‘Dead Space’
With the days counting down until the Dead Space remake is finally unleashed, EA and composer Trevor Gureckis have a little treat for us in the form of “Make Us Whole”, an exclusive track from the Dead Space soundtrack. Fans of Henry Jacobson‘s Bloodline will be all too familiar with Gureckis’ work, who has also collaborated with M. Night Shyamalan on Old and the Apple+ series “Servant”.
The Dead Space remake is Trevor Gureckis’ first foray into AAA video game scores. The full score will be released on the same day as the remake, courtesy of Lakeshore Records.
“Making the score to Dead Space was an 18 month long journey that started out with musically reassessing the lore of the game from scratch – and searching for thematic opportunities,” explains Gureckis. “I began by writing musical suites not connected to specific scenes or chapters, but rather to the story alone. For example, I composed music for the Unitology religion and a piece for the Marker alien artifact. The goal was to enhance the story moments when they arose for a deeper connection to this hugely compelling game. I introduced new themes and instruments to capture Issac’s frightening journey through the USG Ishimura. The result, I hope, is something that is both new and “at home” in the lore of Dead Space“.

Norway’s deepest fjord isn’t just unleashing a mythic monster in Kraken, but its monstrous deep sea parasites as well.

Samuel Goldwyn Films will release the Kraken in select theaters and on digital June 12.
Here’s the synopsis: “A marine biologist encounters several strange occurrences while researching a fjord, including the brutal deaths of two local teenagers. At the bottom of Norway’s deepest fjord rests a mythical monster as large as a mountain, with a myriad of arms ready to crush and devour anything they can grab.”
Pål Øie (The Tunnel) directs from a script by Vilde Eide, Kjersti Jelen Rasmussen, and Natasha Arthur.
Sara Khorami (Troll 2), Mikkel Bratt Silset, Øyvind Brandtzæg, Jenny Evensen, Ingvild Holthe Bygdnes, Jon Erik Myre, Hans Morten Hansen, Steinar Klouman Hallert, and Filip Bargee Ramberg star.
The behemoth beast from the deep is the latest kaiju-sized aquatic creature harboring a horde of bloodthirsty parasites, joining the likes of Cloverfield and Underwater. Naturally, the Kraken itself serves as the much bigger threat.
It’s also about time that the Kraken received its own feature; though Meg 2: The Trench featured a Kraken-like beast in its climax, the Kraken hasn’t been fully unleashed since Clash of the Titans.
Watch out for the Kraken in limited theaters and on VOD this Friday.
