Last May we told you that Saban Films had acquired Tomboy, a Revenger’s Tale, gender-swapping action movie starring Fast and the Furious and Resident Evil star Michelle Rodriguez. While we wait for a U.S. release, it will arrive in the UK on digital platforms from March 13th and on DVD from April 3rd, courtesy of Precision Pictures.
The film centers on an ace assassin (Rodriguez) who is double-crossed by gangsters and falls into the hands of rogue surgeon known as “The Doctor”, who turns him into a woman. The hitman (now a hitwoman) sets out for revenge, aided by a nurse named Johnnie, who also has secrets.
The previously released trailer boasts all sorts of huge names, including stars Michelle Rodriguez and Sigourney Weaver (Alien, Aliens, Ghostbusters), The Warriors director Walter Hill, as well as one of the producers of Alien. Even all the names can’t save this trailer from looking like a disappointing direct-to-Redbox rental, no matter how interesting the film’s concept is.
