Twelve years ago, George Romero created what I personally believe to be his last good movie with Land of the Dead, a continuation of the greater story presented across the first three films in his zombie universe. Sure, it’s plagued by some pretty bad CGI, but it’s mostly vintage Romero and there are few things better than that.
The film is currently available on Blu-ray, but it’s soon getting the Collector’s Edition treatment from Scream Factory! Just announced today, the new Land of the Dead Blu-ray will be released on October 24th, planned to be a 2-disc set packed with new extras plus the theatrical and unrated versions of the film.
Further info will be announced sometime in September. In the meantime, you can check out the newly-commissioned art from The CRP Group below!
In Land of the Dead…
George Romero creates a harrowing vision of a modern-day world where the walking dead roam a vast uninhabited wasteland and the living try to lead “normal” lives behind the high walls of a fortified city. A new society has been built by a hand of ruthless opportunists, who live in luxury in the towers of a skyscraper, high above the less fortunate citizens who must eke out a hard life on the streets below. With the survival of the city at stake, a group of mercenaries is called into action to protect the living from the evolving army of the dead waiting outside the city walls.
The film features a cast of great actors including Dennis Hopper, Simon Baker, Asia Argento, Robert Joy and John Leguizamo.
Pre-order Land of the Dead today to get it two weeks early!
