Uncork’d Entertainment Brings Brutal Brazilian Horror ‘Our Evil’ to the States
Texas-based distributor Uncork’d Entertainment has picked up North American rights to Samuel Cunha Galli‘s Brazilian supernatural thriller Our Evil (Mal Nosso), reports ScreenDaily. We here at Bloody Disgusting called it “emotionally charged and violent.”
Uncork’d plans a platform theatrical release for the feature in New York and Los Angeles together with Dark Star Pictures, followed by a North American-wide VOD release.
Set in the seedy underbelly of Sao Paulo, Brasil, an exorcist (Ademir Esteves) uses the dark web to employ a serial killer (Ricardo Casella) to protect his daughter (Laura Pepita) from demonic possession.
“It’s a brutal, terrifying experience, but at its heart it’s about the love a father has for his daughter and the sacrifices he will make to keep her safe,” said Jinga CEO Julian Richards.
Alan Jones, director of the UK’s leading genre festival FrightFest describes the thriller as “shocking, surprising, gripping and always keeps you guessing. Our Evil will change the game for future Latin American genre cinema”.

When best friends Glen (Stephen Dorff) and Terry (Louis Tripp) stumble across a mysterious crystalline rock in Glen’s backyard, they quickly dig up the newly sodden lawn searching for more precious stones. Instead, they unearth The Gate — an underground chamber of terrifying demonic evil. The teenagers soon understand what evil they’ve released as they are overcome with an assortment of horrific experiences. With fiendish followers invading suburbia, it’s now up to the kids to discover the secret that can lock The Gate forever . . . if it’s not too late.
If you’ve never seen The Gate, it’s now streaming on Prime Video and Tubi.
