New Horror Anthology ‘Nightmare Cinema’ Comes to VHS With Limited Edition Release

Published

on

Featuring segments directed by Mick GarrisJoe DanteDavid SladeRyuhei Kitamura and Alejandro Brugues, the horror anthology Nightmare Cinema (read our review) is essentially a low-key reboot of the “Masters of Horror” television series, and it’s a damn good time. It’s also loaded with gory practical effects, particularly in the standout opening segment.

Brugues crafts a gory slasher with a fun twist, Dante channels the spirit of Tales from the Crypt and Slade brings to the table a black & white nightmare that’d make David Lynch proud.

It’s all brought together with a wraparound segment featuring Mickey Rourke!

The film is coming to DVD and Blu-ray on September 3rd, or you can grab it on VHS! Yes, BrokeHorrorFan.com presents Nightmare Cinema on old school VHS, now up for pre-order.

The anthology arrives on VHS in a black clamshell case. It is officially licensed from Cranked Up Films and has been approved by the producer/writer/director Mick Garris.

This release is limited to 100 tapes, with 50 autographed by Mick Garris. Every tape includes letters from directors David Slade, Alejandro Brugués, and Ryûhei Kitamura and an exclusive introduction by director Mick Garris.

Pre-order your copy from Witter Entertainment today. The standard edition is selling for $20, with the edition signed by Garris going for $25. Tapes will ship on September 3.

In Nightmare Cinema, “A series of down-on-their-luck individuals enter the decrepit and spine-chilling Rialto theater, only to have their deepest and darkest fears brought to life on the silver screen by The Projectionist – a mysterious, ghostly figure who holds the nightmarish futures of all who attend his screenings. By the time our patrons realize the truth, escape is no longer an option. For once the ticket is torn, their fate is sealed at Nightmare Cinema.”

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.
