Second Sight Fully Details Their ‘Dawn of the Dead’ 4K UHD Release and It’s Packed With New Stuff

Dawn of the Dead 3D

UK distributor Second Sight Films announced last year that they were restoring George A. Romero‘s Dawn of the Dead for an upcoming 4K Ultra HD release, with the original camera negative provided by producer Richard P. Rubenstein. They’ve been hard at work on scanning, grading, framing and restoring, and we’ve finally got full release details for you today.

The set includes a new commentary track on the US Theatrical Cut, a new 59-minute documentary special feature, a previously unreleased archive interview with George Romero, a new 13-minute featurette wherein Tom Savini talks about the film’s makeup effects, the 2014 documentary The Dead Will Walk, and various other brand new interviews and featurettes.

Also included, a 150-page hardback book and the movie’s novelization.

Needless to say, the set promises to be a must-own no matter how many copies of Dawn of the Dead you already own. Check out the graphic below for the full release details.

Available in Blu-ray or 4K Ultra HD versions, Dawn of the Dead will release on October 26.

Take note of this important info: “Blu-ray version: Discs 1-4 Blu-ray. UHD version: Discs 1-3 UHD, Disc 4 Blu-ray. Blu-ray discs region B (contractual). UHD has no region coding.”

The set will feature Romero’s Original, Unrated US Theatrical Release Cut (2:07), Romero’s Pre-US Release Cannes Cut (2:17) and the foreign edition edited by Dario Argento.
