Irish Aquatic Horror ‘Sea Fever’ Will Live Stream Next Thursday, April 9th

Published

on

Written/directed by Neasa Hardiman, the Irish creature feature Sea Fever will release to Digital on April 10, but we’ve learned today that you’ll now be able to see it one night early.

Gunpowder & Sky will bring audiences the ultimate at-home experience to be the first to participate in the live stream premiere of Sea Fever, followed by a Q&A with the film’s director and stars Hermione Corfield (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation), Connie Nielsen (Wonder Woman 1984, Gladiator).

The live stream event will take place on https://seafever.watchdust.com on Thursday, April 9 at 5:00pm PT / 8:00pm ET. For a small pay-per-view fee, fans can tune in to watch the official film premiere together, post their comments in a chatroom, and have their questions answered by the cast and crew via a moderated Q&A following the credits.

“Like everyone else, we are adjusting to life’s new challenges on a daily basis and feel Sea Fever is more relevant than ever,” said Janet Brown, EVP of Acquisitions and Global Distribution for Gunpowder & Sky. “We are psyched to host the first-ever live experience of a film screening, and can’t wait to share it with audiences!”

“Siobhán’s a marine biology student who prefers spending her days alone in a lab. She has to endure a week on a ragged fishing trawler, where she’s miserably at odds with the close-knit crew. But out in the deep Atlantic, an unfathomable life form ensnares the boat. When members of the crew succumb to a strange infection, Siobhán must overcome her alienation and anxiety to win the crew’s trust, before everyone is lost.”

Our own Joe Lipsett reviewed the film out of the Toronto International Film Festival last year, writing that it’s “a smart character drama that subverts aquatic horror tropes.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

When best friends Glen (Stephen Dorff) and Terry (Louis Tripp) stumble across a mysterious crystalline rock in Glen’s backyard, they quickly dig up the newly sodden lawn searching for more precious stones. Instead, they unearth The Gate — an underground chamber of terrifying demonic evil. The teenagers soon understand what evil they’ve released as they are overcome with an assortment of horrific experiences. With fiendish followers invading suburbia, it’s now up to the kids to discover the secret that can lock The Gate forever . . . if it’s not too late.
