‘Saint Maud’, ‘Crawl’, ‘Child’s Play’ and More Added to Paramount Plus This Week

Paramount+ is adding more than 1,000 titles to their streaming service this coming Thursday, June 10, and many of them are quality horror films. This will bring the streamer’s total of films to 2,500 by the end of summer.

Here’s a small sampling of titles revealed:

  • A24’s latest religious horror Saint Maud, which Joe Lipsett called an “exquisite religious psychological thriller”.
  • The Sam Raimi-produced and Alex Aja-directed survival thriller Crawl (review), which pits a young woman, trapped in the middle of a category 5 hurricane, against alligators.
  • Orion Pictures’ Child’s Play (review) remake, which turns Chucky into a killer robot with A.I.
  • Orion’s atmospheric horror fairytale, Gretel & Hansel, which Meagan wrote “casts a moody, high-concept spell.”
  • The Pet Sematary remake from Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer that Meagan raved about out of the SXSW premiere. (A Paramount+ sequel is in the works.)
  • The Haunting (1999): A remake in which “a study in fear escalates into a nightmare for a professor and three subjects trapped in a mysterious mansion.”
  • Paranormal Activity 3 & 4
  • Arachnophobia (1990)
  • Body Cam
  • Terminator: Dark Fate

It’s also worth noting that, a month later, somewhere in the July 10th range, A Quiet Place Part II will be headed to the streaming service following its hugely successful theatrical run.

From the press release: “The move to boost the film lineup comes as ViacomCBS bows its new, less-expensive $4.99/month plan for Paramount Plus with ads, available starting Monday. Unlike the predecessor CBS All Access with ads at $5.99/month — which is being discontinued — the Paramount Plus Essential package does not provide access to local CBS stations. (The no-adds $9.99/month Paramount Plus Premium does include CBS locals.)”

Horror, pizza and basketball connoisseur. Taco Bell daily. Franchise favs: Hellraiser, Child's Play, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Scream and Friday the 13th. Horror 365 days a year.

The teenagers soon understand what evil they’ve released as they are overcome with an assortment of horrific experiences. With fiendish followers invading suburbia, it’s now up to the kids to discover the secret that can lock The Gate forever . . . if it’s not too late.
