‘Orphan: First Kill’ Brings Esther Back to Blu-ray for Halloween

Published

After making $12.2 million worldwide in theaters – again we must note that the film only hit a maximum of 557 theaters at the height of its run here in the United States – prequel movie Orphan: First Kill is now headed home to DVD and Blu-ray just in time for Halloween.

Paramount brings Orphan: First Kill to DVD and Blu-ray on October 18, 2022.

The film is currently available on Digital, and streaming exclusively on Paramount+.

William Brent Bell (The Boy, Separation) stepped into the director’s chair for First Kill, a prequel film that fully solidifies Esther’s status – along with Fuhrman’s – as a horror icon.

I tweeted last month, “First Kill plays out like a Child’s Play sequel with Esther as Chucky. It’s a 90 minute magic trick, de-aging Isabelle Fuhrman with charming old school techniques. An Orphan rehash until it’s not, with clever twists and a sense of humor about itself.”

“Esther’s terrifying saga continues in this thrilling prequel to the original and shocking horror hit, Orphan. After orchestrating a brilliant escape from an Estonian psychiatric facility, Esther travels to America by impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family.

“Yet, an unexpected twist arises that pits her against a mother who will protect her family from the murderous “child” at any cost.”

Rossif Sutherland and Julia Stiles star alongside Isabelle Fuhrman.

David Coggeshall (“Scream: The TV Series”) wrote the script.

Orphan: First Kill is rated “R” for bloody violence, language and brief sexual content, so you can expect to see Esther bash in some heads. The film’s official runtime is listed at 99 minutes.
