The saying “A picture is worth a thousand words” is often more true than it lets on. A picture begs the viewer to wonder what happened leading up to this moment and what came next. It asks us to look and try to understand a story from only a snapshot of a single slice of time. Sometimes that story can bring happiness and joy while other times it brings us sorrow and grief. But then there are times where that image can evoke fear and distress.
Such is the case with digital painter Michael Macrae, who specializes in, “…portraying narrative through one or more images.“. Below are several images of Macrae’s, each a dark moment that raises many questions yet gives us enough information to begin hazarding guesses.
