A young woman decides to murder her husband so that he is no longer an issue when she begins a relationship with another man. As karma would have it, our female lead does not realize that her mother-in-law’s dealings with the occult will come back to haunt her… literally!
Erik Wilson’s HOUSE CALL is most likely the oldest film in WOD, but I must say it stands the test of time. One of the first flicks I worked on that was shot with the Red camera, I was quickly amazed at the quality of the “look” of the movie. Erik had contacted me to handle the special FX work in the movie and I was happy to be a part of the project. Erik assembled a tremendous crew of diligent and talented individuals and it shows in the final product. To this day, I absolutely love the visual aesthetic Wilson creates in his movie. The location is perfect as the 70s look of the house brings viewers back to the classic horror flicks of yesterday and the combination of shadowy lighting and solid production design act as the ideal accomplices to build an overall dark and brooding atmosphere. Something bad is going to happen, you just have to wait for it!
I’m pleased to include House Call in World of Death and hope all you sickos out there enjoy this cool little short flick.
