WORLD OF DEATH Ep. 110 – Girl Plus Ghost
Well ghouls and gals, welcome back to World of Death and episode 110. Grab a glass of whatever makes you happy, relax and play what is a treat indeed.
‘Girl + Ghost’, written and directed by Nik Wansbrough, is an Oscar worthy caliber short that is evident the second the film begins playing . Wansbrough, works with multiple mediums effectively and effortlessly in the film which includes visual effects, practical effects, miniatures, stop motion models, animation and does it all superbly. In my opinion, it is a beautiful mix of inspiration from the 1902 French silent film, ‘A Trip to the Moon’ and what may have inspired 2017’s ‘A Ghost Story’, since this story of a ghost was made in 2014. While not the typical horror short one might normally see on World of Death, this story of a spirit watching the woman of his dreams from across the street is a torture film of unrequited love since they are so close yet world’s apart. The fluid use of the mediums work magnificently together and from the opening sequence you know this is going to be something special. It’s got a narwhal, y’all. The original score by Sam Dignand is playful and painful and the film conveys so many emotions poignantly without uttering a single word. Wansbrough not only wrote and directed this gem, he also did the editing, production design, compositing and animation….phew. If there is a God, this film will justly earn multiple awards including that golden, naked eunich that millions like to watch once a year. I’ll say it, this is my favorite short of 2017. Enjoy, ghouls and gals, and let me know what you think!
Until we read again my fellow fiends!
Sharing the scaring,

Anna Faris & Regina Hall Promise ‘Scary Movie’ Will “Offend Everyone;” New Images Revealed
The Wayans are out to cancel the Cancel Culture with Scary Movie, and the cast assures it will do just that.
“They sort of have an across-the-board style,” Anna Faris tells EW. “It’s always been a part of the Wayans Brothers, their electricity. ‘Can we offend you? Will you still love us? Come on, you still love us, don’t you?'”
Regina Hall concurs, promising the “boundary-pushing” sixth installment in the horror parody franchise will “offend everyone.”
EW has shared a batch of behind-the-scenes images from Scary Movie, which hits theaters June 5 via Paramount.
Faris and Hall are joined by fellow franchise favorites Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, and Jon Abrahams in the legacy sequel.
The ensemble includes Damon Wayans Jr., Gregg Wayans, Kim Wayans, Benny Zielke, Cameron Scott Roberts, Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, Kenan Thompson, and Felissa Rose.
Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directs from a script by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, original Scary Movie director Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans (Scary Movie 2), and Rick Alvarez (A Haunted House).
The film will slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every “final chapter” that absolutely isn’t final.
Scary Movie launched in 2000, followed by Scary Movie 2 in 2001. The Wayans’ involvement ended there, but the series continued with 2003’s Scary Movie 3, 2006’s Scary Movie 4, and 2013’s Scary Movie 5.
