The 2020 Tribeca Film Festival unveiled its feature film lineup including their Midnighters from the event running April 15-26.
Continuing its tradition of championing the discovery of emerging voices and celebrating new work from established talent, the 19th edition of the Festival foregrounds comedic, music-centered, political and socially-conscious films from diverse storytellers who use art to inspire positive change and community restoration.
Here are the genre films set for premieres:
Becky
Directed by Cary Murnion and Jonathan Milott, and written by Nick Morris, Ruckus Skye, and Lane Skye.
“Mourning her mother’s death, teenaged Becky doesn’t think she could possibly have a worse time during a lake house trip with her dad. The unexpected arrival of four escaped convicts is about to prove she can.”
The film stars Kevin James, Joel McHale, Lulu Wilson, and Amanda Brugel.

The Boys from County Hell
Directed and written by Chris Baugh.

Starring Jack Rowan, Nigel O’Neill, Louisa Harland, Michael Hough, Fra Fee, and John Lynch.

The Dark & The Wicked
Directed and written by Bryan Bertino.
“On a secluded farm in a nondescript rural town, a man is slowly dying. His family gathers to mourn, and soon a darkness grows, marked by waking nightmares and a growing sense that something evil is taking over the family.”
The film stars Marin Ireland, Michael Abbott Jr., and Xander Berkeley.

Honeydew
From director Devereux Milburn and producers Dan Kennedy and Alan Pierson, the film stars Sawyer Spielberg in his introductory role, alongside Malin Barr and Barbara Kingsley.
Honeydew is described as “a feverish horror film” set in rural New England.
“Strange cravings and hallucinations befall a young couple after seeking shelter in the home of an aging farmer and her peculiar son.”
Milburn describes the film as a “modern day Hansel and Gretel story.”
Sputnik
Directed by Egor Abramenko, written by Andrei Zolotarev, Oleg Malovichko.
“The lone survivor of an enigmatic spaceship incident hasn’t returned back home alone—hiding inside his body is a dangerous creature. His only hope: a doctor who’s ready to do whatever it takes to save her patient.”
The film stars Oksana Akinshina, Peter Fyodorov, Fyodor Bondarchuk, Anton Vasiliev, and Pavel Ustinov.

12 Hour Shift
Angela Bettis (Carrie, May, The Woman) returns to horror in writer/director Brea Grant‘s (After Midnight) new film 12 Hour Shift, and we’ve got a first-look photo for ya today.
Grant shared the photo (below) on Twitter, writing: “[Angela Bettis] is the heart and soul of this film and her performance is everything. Excited for people to see it.”
The horror-comedy follows a group of nurses stealing organs and selling them on the black market.
Mick Foley, Chloe Farnworth, Kit Williamson, Tara Perry and Nikea Gamby-Turner also star.
