Hideyuki Kikuchi Talks About Upcoming CGI ‘Vampire Hunter D’
Vampire Hunter D creator Hideyuki Kikuchi is the focus of a new video interview, where he talks about the upcoming CGI series as well as the history and fascination of D and vampires in general. Kikuchi fascinatingly talks about how he set the world in the future to market it as sci-fi while making sure to add strong elements of horror and dashes of westerns to create the incredible universe that we have seen in the original 1985 anime and its 2000 sequel Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.
Titled Vampire Hunter D: Resurrection, the upcoming series will be produced by Japanese studio Digital Frontier (Resident Evil: Damnation) and Unified Pictures.
I spoke recently with Scott McLean of Unified Pictures about this series as Vampire Hunter D is rather close to my heart, being the first real anime I saw. We conversed for a long while and, while I can’t go into specifics or details, his passion and his vision leave me certain that the series is in incredibly capable hands.
McLean and his business partner Kurt Rauer spoke with Anime News Network about the series, saying that they are aiming for, “…high quality, one-hour dramatic series with a season-long arc.“
