At San Diego Comic Con over the weekend, our own Rafael Motamayor got the chance to speak to director Michael Chaves and the stars of New Line’s upcoming The Curse of La Llorona, including Raymond Cruz (“Breaking Bad”), Linda Cardellini (Avengers: Age of Ultron) and Patricia Velasquez (The Mummy). The interviews were conducted in the wake of New Line’s ScareDiego panel, where the first footage from the film was shown off.
La Llorona is based on perhaps the best-known latino folktale, which tells of the ghost of a weeping woman who terrorizes and snatches children to claim as her own. During the chat, the director and stars talked about the importance of telling La Llorona’s tale on the big screen, while also relaying their own creepy experiences from the set.
According to Velasquez and Chaves, La Llorona herself may have been on set…
The film follows a social worker investigating the disappearance of two children and soon learns her own family may too be in danger.
Bloody Disgusting shared the world exclusive online premiere of Chaves‘ short film “The Maiden”. It was a monster success among our readers and created quite the buzz in the industry.
This timeless Mexican legend comes to terrifying life on April 19, 2019.
