[Video Interview] ‘Overlord’ Actors Wyatt Russell, John Magaro & Iain De Caestecker on Surviving Boot Camp
Julius Avery‘s Overlord (read my review) centers around a group of American paratroopers that find themselves behind enemy lines on the eve of D-Day, so it makes sense that the actors would have to prepare for the strenuous physical activity that the roles would require. It turns out they went through a rigorous (albeit brief) boot camp experience to prepare for their roles as paratroopers.
I was fortunate enough to interview actors Wyatt Russell (“Black Mirror”, son of Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn), John Magaro (My Soul to Take) and Iain De Caestecker (“Marvel’s AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.”) about their experiences with boot camp, as one of the goriest sequences in the film:
***Mild spoilers to follow***
Paramount Pictures’ Overlord, which is definitely not a Cloverfield sequel, played to rave reviews out of its Fantastic Fest World Premiere.
In the film…
“On the eve of D-Day, a group of American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success, but as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a Nazi experiment.”
In addition to Russell, Magaro and Caestercker, the film stars Jovan Adepo (“The Leftovers”), with Jacob Anderson (“Game of Thrones”), Dominic Applewhite (The King’s Speech), Pilou Asbæk (“Game of Thrones”), Mathilde Ollivier (The Misfortunes of Francois Jane), and Bokeem Woodbine (“Fargo”).
Overlord begins its U.S. theatrical run on November 9, 2018.

‘Chucky’ – Brad Dourif, Fiona Dourif, and Alex Vincent Reunite to Talk the Past and Tease the Future [Video]
Who doesn’t love a good ol’ family reunion?
At Creep I.E. Con Aftermath, horror icons Brad Dourif, Fiona Dourif, and Alex Vincent sat down with Bloody Disgusting’s Shelby Novak (of Scare You to Sleep) and Michael Roffman (of Halloweenies) to discuss the past, present, and definitive future of the Chucky franchise.
Now, you can watch the full panel below.
The three share hilarious personal anecdotes about what it’s been like growing up together with Chucky in their lives. They also digress on the elasticity of the series and why they’re game for anything Don Mancini throws their way. Speaking of which, there is also a tease of what’s to come.
The video was directed and edited by Matt Sampere with Diandra Lazor.
