Julius Avery‘s Overlord (read my review) centers on a group of paratroopers that find themselves behind enemy lines in Nazi-occupied France, where they discover strange experiments being performed on the local townsfolk.
I was fortunate enough to interview actor Jovan Adepo (“The Leftovers”) and actress Mathilde Ollivier (The Misfortunes of François Jane) after its world premiere at Fantastic Fest. We discuss the most difficult scenes to shoot in the film, as well as Ollivier’s feelings towards being the only female character in a film that is essentially a boys’ club. Check it out below!
In the film, which is most definitely not a Cloverfield sequel:
“On the eve of D-Day, a group of American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success, but as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a Nazi experiment.”
In addition to Adepo and Ollivier, the film stars Wyatt Russell (“Black Mirror”), with Jacob Anderson (“Game of Thrones”), Dominic Applewhite (The King’s Speech), Pilou Asbaek (“Game of Thrones”), Iain de Caestecker (“Marvel’s AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.”), John Magaro (The Big Short), and Bokeem Woodbine (“Fargo”).
Overlord begins its U.S. theatrical run on November 9, 2018
