‘The Conjuring 3’ Plot Details Confirmed [Exclusive]

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are reprising their paranormal investigators the Warrens in The Conjuring 3. The third installment will be quite different from the other two, but it’s still based on a true story, producer James Wan tells Bloody Disgusting.

“It’s not necessarily based on an artifact but it’s based on one of the Warrens’ case files,” Wan said.

“All the Conjuring films are based on the case files, so they’re more based on the true story aspect of the real life Warrens. I think that’s important. It’s important that the mothership stays true to the inspiration of the real people. The spinoffs are where we get to have more fun and do weird and wonderful crazy things. The mothership of it being the Conjuring films, we want it to come back to the real stuff.”

Our exclusive story reported earlier about a man on trial claiming he was possessed at the time of the murder is confirmed as The Conjuring 3’s plot.

“It’s this guy who was on trial for committing a murder,” Wan said. “I think it’s the first time in America’s history where the defendant used possessions as a reason, as an excuse.”

Michael Chaves, who directed The Curse of La Llorona for Wan (trailer below), will direct The Conjuring 3. Needless to say, he impressed Wan.

“He definitely did,” Wan said. “I feel like he’s this young up and coming filmmaker in this world. He’s a guy that understands how these films work. He’s really great working with actors and I feel like that’s something I want and need to work with, someone that people like Patrick and Vera would feel comfortable with.”

The Curse of La Llorona will be in theaters April 19.

“I’ve been a big fan of that story, of that world,” Wan said. “I think it’s really cool to look at other culture. I’d love to explore more Asian centric stories.”

Wan’s Aquaman is in theaters Friday, December 21.

Who doesn’t love a good ol’ family reunion?

At Creep I.E. Con Aftermath, horror icons Brad Dourif, Fiona Dourif, and Alex Vincent sat down with Bloody Disgusting’s Shelby Novak (of Scare You to Sleep) and Michael Roffman (of Halloweenies) to discuss the past, present, and definitive future of the Chucky franchise.

Now, you can watch the full panel below.

The three share hilarious personal anecdotes about what it’s been like growing up together with Chucky in their lives. They also digress on the elasticity of the series and why they’re game for anything Don Mancini throws their way. Speaking of which, there is also a tease of what’s to come.

The video was directed and edited by Matt Sampere with Diandra Lazor.
