‘Godzilla: Resurgence’ Synopsis and Runtime Released
We’ve been writing about Toho’s Godzilla: Resurgence for nearly a year now and the film is fast approaching its July 29th theatrical release date (in Japan, mind you). Up until today, we didn’t know what the synopsis of the film was but that’s changed thanks to a “community individual” contributed translation over at the Gormaru Island Facebook page:
“A cause unknown, an accident has occurred in the tunnels of the Tokyo Bay Aqua Line, causing an emergency cabinet meeting to convene. Immediately afterwards, a huge creature appears, destroying town after town with its landing reaching the capital. The mysterious giant organism named “Godzilla”.”
Additionally, the informative post adds that the film will clock in at nearly two hours with a runtime of 118 minutes.
Lastly, a short promo featurette has been released that shows a little bit of new footage, although it’s nothing terribly exciting. I’m guessing they’re saving the good parts for the theaters!
Godzilla: Resurgence, the 29th entry in the franchise, will be hitting theaters in Japan on July 29th. It is co-directed by Hideaki Anno (Evangelion) and Shinji Higuchi (Attack on Titan). Anno has written the script.
The cast includes Hiroki Hasegawa, Yutaka Takenouchi, Satomi Ishihara, Rando Yaguchi, and Ren Osugi.
